Our Verdict
Best Buy is always popular, just remember that savings codes are expiring codes. Also, keep in mind that Best Buy gift cards can no longer be used to buy most third-party gift cards at many Best Buy locations which kills the deal for a lot of people. Not sure if you can buy Best Buy gift cards with the savings codes or if that’s dead as well in those locations.
If you want to max this out, either buy three $150 e-gift cards or you can buy a single $450 e-gift card and get all three $15 savings codes if you prefer that (it’ll show clearly at checkout as being eligible for three $15 codes). The codes will still come as three separate $15 codes.
Cashstar e-gift card purchases typically do not work to trigger Amex Offer deals. I don’t have any data points for Best Buy specifically, but most likely not.
You’ll earn Best Buy Rewards with the purchase if you input your Rewards number at checkout on Cashstar. Check the credit card bonus categories in our Payments Workshop. No portal.
“You’ll earn Best Buy Rewards with the purchase if you input your Rewards number at checkout on Cashstar” will do you happen to know if i use multiple emails but use the same member id rewards number ot get rewards would they track it? and not give the promotional code?thank you would you also happen to know if they track using the smae paypal address if i use multiple emails to get multiple 15 dollar codes?
Any idea if all three savings codes can be used in one transaction?
Since it will count towards Rewards spending, it is good for those who are only inches away from keeping Elite/Elite Plus level for next year.

This SHOULD go without saying, but people might want to keep in mind that they would fore-go the purchase protection benefits included with many credit cards, (Citi, Amex, Etc.)
I.e. – the Gift card will make the final purchase, not their credit card.
Note: I saw an old article, that for Chase Freedom, Ink, and Sapphire that only some portion had to be paid with the card. Not certain if this is still the case or whether there are other cards that only require a partial payment (Some Amex maybe?)
Still the case for those Chase cards according to their latest benefits guide (5/15/18). For the Amex card that I looked up, the benefits pay only up to what you charged to your card.
That’s wrong. Chase only pays up to what you charged to your Chase card for the extended warranty and purchase protection, like Amex.
Can we pay these GCs with existing BB GCs?
No
DP, as of yesterday, the bonus expiring cards could still be used to buy a BB GC.
If I didn’t already have $150 in gift cards I would jump on this. Best Buy has one of those entry-level laptops with the 32 GB eMMC hard drives for $110 today 12/20 which is the lowest price you’ll see on those laptops except on Black Friday.
can this be combined with Amex offer $30 off $300?
Probably won’t work. I’ll add a note.
eGift cards show up as Cashstar.com not BestBuy.com so I really doubt it.
This Exactly.
Now if you were spending say $750 you could do this deal and use the gift card ($450) and your Amex($300 for payment.
– That’s not really “combining” per say, but if you’re buying a large item anyways……
From the Amex BB offer terms: “Not valid for e-gift card purchases.”
