Q3 5% rotating categories are now live for the Freedom, Discover, Dividend, Cash+ and other cards. American Express is clawing back some points from the Hilton 12x/6x grocery promotion, there are also a few datapoints on clawbacks on Delta & Marriott cards. Chuck took a look at new credit card benefits that began/renewed July 1st, this includes the temporary benefits added to the Sapphire Reserve & Preferred cards. Sapphire Reserve/Preferred are also unofficially earning 5x/3x on restaurant purchases.

We’ve seen a lot of targeted spending bonuses as well. Wells Fargo has 10% back on gas & grocery purchases, Chase cards are earning 1,500/3,000 bonus points or 5x on select bill payments. American Express has some Delta card offers with no lifetime language as well.

A lot of new bank bonuses were added/renewed as it’s the start of a new quarter. Unfortunately the Chase checking/savings bonus has been reduced from $600 to $500. Citi Checking bonus for $200/$400/$700 or $1,500 has been extended. PNC has a $300 checking bonus with no statewide restriction. SunTrust has a $400 checking bonus for those in AL, AR, FL, GA, MD, MS, NC, SC, TN, WV, VA, and D.C Only. M&T Bank has a $200-$400 checking bonus for those in CT, DC, DE, MD, NJ, NY, PA, VA, WV and Santander has an increased $300 checking bonus for those in NH, MA, RI, CT, DE, NY, NJ or PA.

American Express has brought back the shop small promo, when you spend $10+ at a select small business you will get $5 back (up to $50 back total). Amazon is offering 30/40% off when using one MR point or $20 off $80 when using one MR point. You can also get 20% off when using one Citi ThankYou point. Staples is offering $200 Visa gift cards with no purchase fees and a $10 instant discount when you spend $100+ on a purchase.
