Hat tip to FM
Not sure why this offer has been marked as expired. It’s still active until Nov 23.

The other question that often comes up is whether you have to stay in a Best Western branded hotel, or whether SureStays (lower quality hotels that are usually castoffs from other mid tier brands like Holiday Inn Express or Comfort Inn, but are pretty cheap) count.
Just like a Courtyard counts for a Marriott promo, and a Tru counts for a Hilton promo, why would SureStay not count for a Best Western promo, especially when you consider the full names? If you look at this website about SureStay:
https://www.bestwestern.com/content/best-western/en_US/hotels/surestay.html
you’ll that there are actually 4 SureStay brands, and all 4 brand logos say “by BEST WESTERN” at the end of the logo, just like it’s “Courtyard by Marriott” and “Tru by Hilton”
This is a promo by hotel program itself. It’s promos by partners (like Amex offers) that tend to be more brand specific.
There is also an offer for stays in Australia & New Zealand http://blog.frequentflyerbonuses.com/2020/09/september-14-bonus-offer-highlight-best-western-rewards-get-a-25-bw-gift-card-for-each-night-you-stay-at-hotels-in-australia-or-new-zealand.html
Terms aren’t super clear. Will this apply to stays booked before registration, but completed during the eligibility period? Wondering if I have to rebook my stays in October for this.
of course you have to rebook.. why would they just give gift cards for people who already have prior reservations?
“why would they just give gift cards for people who already have prior reservations?” They don’t, unless those people register now for the promo. Ie, it’s not automatic gift just for having reservations, you need to register. But once you register, the only restriction in the T&Cs in when your stay must be, not when you need to book it.
So I don’t understand why you think there’s such a booking restriction. Was it just a guess on your part, or do you actually know? If you know of such a booking restriction, please provide a link.
Of course, you also have to book through Best Western, not through some OTA. So in case you booked another way (which Thelement did not explain) only THEN you would need to rebook.
The T&Cs are available here: https://www.bestwestern.com/en_US/offers/hotel-discounts/special-offer/rewardsrush3.html Nothing in T&Cs that I can see mentions anything about when it has be booked, just that have to register before the actual stay.
But of course you have to book through Best Western, and have to be a Best Western Rewards member. So if you booked your stays some other way (through on OTA), then of course you do have to rebook, but not if you already booked through Best Western as a BW Rewards member.
Saw both your replies and my take is just like yours. Terms not super clear on that specific circumstance but no biggie. I had booked with BW for the amex offer I had so I’ll just rebook. Thanks for being reaffirming btw. Other commentor’s intensity was a little jarring considering I don’t think anyone can be so definite about something not outlined in the promo terms.
