[Expired] BI-LO/Winn-Dixie/Harveys/Fresco: Get 6x Points On Third-Party Gift Cards (5/6-6/23)

Deal has now ended, view more BI-LO deals by clicking here.

The Offer

Direct Link to offer

  • BI-LO and the other stores in that chain are offering 6x points on all third party gift cards through June 23, 2020.

The Fine Print

  • Excludes BI-LO (or other stores within the chain) store gift cards.
  • Excludes Visa, Mastercard, American Express gift cards, and reloadable and prepaids

Our Verdict

A lot of people will find this interesting for high value cards like Amazon, eBay, Best Buy, Home Depot, etc. Each point is worth 1/2 of 1%, so 6x is 3%.

There is some wrong information going around. Points are NOT worth half a cent each. Points are worth one cent each. The issue is that the normal earning rate is 0.5 points per dollar spent. That is applicable even with the offers like this 6x. That equals 3 points per dollar spent.

So here is my discount process to maximize this:
Purchase $XXX Amazon gift card at Bi-Lo at 6% discount
Purchase with Citi Premier which gets 3x points on Supermarkets
Purchase Best Buy GC at Amazon with frequent 20% off codes and Amazon GC
Anyone have other ideas to make this better?

The 6x points is worth 3% back FYI…not sure why they take that route, probably to make it sound way better than it is. I learned that after my first few trips when I started adding it all up.

I used AMEX Gold for 4x MR personally, but 3x TYP works too if you like that route. Alternatively, 6% back for first $6k annually on Blue Cash Preferred.

I don’t know how “frequently” the 20% comes around for you, but that only works for sporadic use. If you’re re-selling or doing anything in bulk, I’d skip this step and just buy BB from the start. Or Amazon if that’s what you’re doing, can always get BB at cost there if you change your mind.

Winn Dixie won’t let you purchase gift cards with credit cards. They stopped that a while back.

YMMV…I have one location that hasn’t questioned it and I’ve done about $5k total there over several trips, but multiple others have flat out denied it.

Yeah it must be dependent on the location. I have two winn dixies near me and have never had an issue.

Good to know. I used to buy gift cards there on occasion with credit cards. Then my local Winn Dixie stopped allowing it. Tried another location that also didn’t allow it, and gave up. Due to this policy, I’ve pretty much quit shopping at Winn Dixie even for regular groceries.
