Bilt Rewards Now Allows Rent Payments With Any Credit Card For 3% Fee

Bilt Rewards Mastercard holders are able to pay rent to any landlord with no transaction fee and earn valuable Bilt card points in on the payment. They’ve now added the ability to pay with any credit card for a 3% fee.

Overall it could be another option for paying rent with a credit card, an alternative to Plastiq. Useful for meeting signup bonus requirements and the like which can make the 3% fee worthwhile.

You might also earn 250 Bilt points when making a monthly rent payment on Bilt which can help somewhat offset the fee.

To find this credit card payment option, update your app if you already haven’t. Then, go to the “Pay Rent” tab. There should be an option under “Rent payments using the above account will be charged to:” By default, your BILT Mastercard will be selected. Click the drop down to select another card or link a new card.

MCC on Visa card was 6513.

Just wondering if there is a limit on how many ACH charge possible per month?

Note: The app says this cannot be used to pay rent on Venmo, paypal, etc.

Listen up. The only practical use of this feature is to meet the minimum spending requirement on a sign-ups bonus. That’s it. Stop there. No further analysis required. I’m the head cheerleader for Bilt but I see no meaningful value to this feature. It is nothing more than a Plastiq alternative. Period.

For those who have taken Chase Freedom 3x on everything plus 15 months 0% APR, this can be a good tool to get Chase UR at 1c plus the 0% APR play where you actually don’t have to pay except 1% minimum due every month. Not for everyone but worth exploring.

I’ve put most of my expenses on a 0% card every year for awhile now.

This is what I’m thinking I’m looking at the NFCU Flagship card with $350 bonus for $3500 spending in 90 days. I’m planning on paying two months rent: $3628. The card pays 2% so that’s $72.56, then there’s the $350 bonus. The card has a $49 fee and Bilt has a $108.84 fee. Subtract the fees and I receive $264.60 or 7.3%. Worth the trouble?

So if you have a bilt card can you still send them check using amex as an option for a 3 percent they charge?

I don’t have the Bilt card but now see the option to pay via ACH (routing + account # given by Bilt) and charge to my card for 3%. Check payment is locked to Bilt cardholders.

If only earn 250 Bilt points when making a monthly rent payment, is there any minimum amount that needs to be paid?

I see this could be a good profit point for those who don’t actually have to pay rent. It can be an almost free 250 free Bilt points if the minimum is low enough!

you can only make one rent transaction in 30 days.

For me, it’s two max rent transactions (so I get 500 total points per month). But yes, the point is that they’ve closed up that loophole and don’t let you get multiple 250-point reward opportunities just for ultimately one month’s of rent payment

I would very much interested to know what MCC would be used for such transaction. And hopefully won’t be causing “cash advance”
