Earlier today Bilt Rewards sent out an e-mail to some customers informing them that their account has been cancelled. This e-mail was sent in error due to a bad e-mail filter according to Richard Kerr and users that received the e-mail in error will receive 250 courtesy points. Some users panicked and transferred points as they thought their account would be shut down, those people can send in a support ticket to have the transfer reversed (confirmed with Bilt) I believe in those instances it will be possible to have the points return to Bilt and the transfer cancelled.
One day who knows they’ll shut down anyone that’s not profitable
Basically their entire customer base
Exactly. It’s such a gimmick program to suck public market money someday
We are reaching out regarding your Bilt Rewards Membership and associated Points balance. We have reason to believe that behavior on your account demonstrates an intent to engage in sustained misconduct and wrongdoing in connection to the program. Pursuant to the legally binding Bilt Rewards Terms & Conditions, Bilt has the right to “reject, revoke, cancel, terminate, or suspend any membership, benefit, and/or any and all points, or take any other action at its discretion, at any time, if Bilt, believes: (a) the member has (1) violated any of the program rules; (2) acted in a manner inconsistent with applicable law, regulations or ordinances; (3) engaged in any misconduct or wrongdoing in connection with the program; or (4) engaged in abusive, fraudulent, inappropriate, or hostile conduct in connection with the program.” This letter serves as formal notice of the closure of your Bilt Rewards Membership and, effective immediately, the forfeiture of any remaining Bilt points. Please note that all capitalized terms used but not defined herein shall have the same meanings as defined in the Bilt Rewards Terms and Conditions. Sincerely, Bilt Rewards Team
I was worried at first they were targeted people who only had the minimum (5) transactions per month
But only 2 people were meant to get the email apparently: https://www.reddit.com/r/biltrewards/comments/1c0ssyk/from_bilt_erroneous_account_closure_notice/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button
This would be silly. Even if you are only doing 5 transactions, that’s still meeting their requirement. So they have nothing to fault you for.
oops…
Nice preview of what they intend to do with all of their customers
I wonder who the original email was supposed to be targeted towards. High-volume manufactured spenders? Cardholders trying to get cashback on ACH payments for non-rent purposes?
Prior to yesterday, the only Google result for the text of the email led to a Chinese forum discussing Bilt shutdowns for multiple fraudulent points transfers.
I received 250 courtesy points
The error was much worse than described here. It didn’t just say my account was cancelled. It said I engaged in fraud or misconduct. It said my points were forfeited effective immediately.
At the end of the day a good reminder that we do not own our points. Earn and burn.
Thank you for your service.
Who here has not engaged in fraud or misconduct in the points and miles game? I’ll wait. 😀
Well I feel reassured that I was right to continue to transfer out points to partners as soon as they post each month.
This is wrong. The beauty of Bilt points are the 100-150% match bonus
BILT points are the only points I transfer out every time I get increments of 1k (directly to Hyatt). I also do this because I engage in “fraud or misconduct” as I use it monthly for mortgage. Free Hyatt stays is free Hyatt stays.
