  • New users of the BPme fuel app can get 15¢ off per gallon on their first fill up until 12/31/19 and 5¢ of all fill ups until 11/30/19.

Our Verdict

This deal stacks so you’ll get 20¢ off your first fill up. Both deals will show under rewards after signing up. This also stacks with the amex offer for $10 back when you spend $25+.

Hoping for a quadruple dip on this one:

– 20 cents/gallon discount for first use (I guess it’s the 15 cent bonus plus regular 5 cents)
– Amex offer – spend $25+ on this app, get $10
– Amex offer – spend $35 on gas, get $5 (same card as above)
– 11 cents/gallon rebate from Get Upside

If the last three stack I will have saved nearly $22 on a $59 fill up, or about 37%. 😀

$100/mo is no problem for me since that’s barely more than one full tank of fuel for me, and if the app’s 5 cent discount reliably stacks with GetUpside’s rebate it will be a nice ongoing discount.

The app worked perfectly for me on the first use. You do need to be at the station before starting the process. Just put in the pump number, choose payment from saved cards and it authorizes and turns on the pump. I was given the option to have the pump print a receipt as well as email, so I used that printed receipt for the GetUpside app.

Update: Both Amex offer rebates posted and GetUpside did stack with everything else.

I think that’s the same offer as the one discussed in the post?

I think he’s talking about the Amex offer for this.

$100 per month requirement is suicide for BP. If the gas is 2.5/gallon, the MPG is 30. then this means 1,200 miles per month. 40 miles per day. Many commuters don’t travel 20 miles to work.

In the past they’ve had fuel purchase requirements that were very easy to get around – for example, if you hold a Chase Freedom card, they’d waive the requirements – even if you paid with a different card. Hopefully something similar will be the case here; if not – then this is indeed a bad move on their part.

I commented recently about 10% visa local offers for BP through Wednesday.

Harris Teeter fuel points can be used at BP, making this an even sweeter deal

I don’t think you can use both together; you have to choose one or the other. It looks like the only way to get the BPMe discount (including the first time 15¢/gal bonus) is to pay through the BPMe app. Doing that skips any opportunity to redeem your Harris Teeter points.

Hmm…, you may be right. Have you tried? The points don’t apply until you swipe your card at pump, so swiping the card may negate the ability to use “pay for fuel ” on app. I’ll give it a try later this week

Prior to the BPMe reward program rollout, the pump would prompt me to either select “Loyalty ID” (for BP Driver Rewards), or press cancel for partner loyalty programs (like Harris Teeter). So in that case, it wasn’t possible to use both programs—and I think they even stated that restriction somewhere.

I haven’t tried since the rollout of BPMe Rewards. Let me know what you find!

I tried it. Extremely annoying app. I can tell what I did wrong: I don’t like linking the app to my real email because of spam, but they use the email first and last name to check and verify the credit card first and last name. Also, it seems that if you don’t select the option to use the card for offline purchases, it won’t store your credit card information and everytime you log in you have to enter it.

It’s just way too much personal information to a gas company that doesn’t give 2 shits about securing your data, and the price is higher than Exxon/Mobil. It’s so ironic that they build these apps to encourage use and brand loyalty, but it’s such a double-edged sword for BP when the app doesn’t work the way I want it to, it turns me off from ever using their stations again. With Exxon/Mobil I can use a fake account, they throw a lot of junk emails which I can ignore, and yet I’m happily loyal to them because I’m allowed more freedom.

Also should have mentioned. The app didn’t work when I selected my pump # and tried to use it while I was at the station. I guess they expect me to swipe at the pump but then this promotion is not available unless you pay with the app.

$100 per month requirement is a deal killer for me. BP looser after the sign up bonus if I ever remember.

Shell Fuel Reward link with Chase Pay auto kink just wants to be used.to save 10 cents a gallon every Tuesday. This is a Chase Pay calendar quarter for another 5%..

Won’t link any cards for me. Couldn’t pay even if I could link a card since the app doesn’t let you pay unless it detects that you’re at a BP location and there’s issues with that. Was at a BP pump with an ad for the BP app and the app said I wasn’t at a BP.

What I don’t like is not being able to use BP gift cards, especially at stations that charge over 10 cents per gallon if not paying cash. It used to be possible to swipe gift cards at the pump under the old program and get the cash price.
