[Expired] BuyDig: Microsoft 365 Personal/Family For $32.99/$64.99 (15-month Office subscription)

The Offer

Our Verdict

Cheaper than we normally see from Amazon. It used to be called Microsoft Office and now is rebranded to Microsoft 365 Family and Microsoft 365 Personal

I will never buy a subscription for software. Things that I own. Sorry, just not going to do it. I go sailing the seas instead :^)

I have read people recommending LibreOffice which is free. Anyone has experience with LibreOffice?

Yes, LibreOffice works well with any platform, and can read Microsoft documents relatively well. However, LibreOffice does a mediocre job (sometimes terrible job) of creating documents that are FULLY compatible with Microsoft Office.

So if you are planning to only use LibreOffice with all of your documents (you could still print physical documents and provide only PDFs of your work), LibreOffice is great.
Conversely, if you plan on taking documents back and forth between LibreOffice and Microsoft Office, LibreOffice will fall short and have issues with formatting, feature sets missing, etc. during back and forth conversions (even if using the same document extension).

It’s painful sometimes if you’re used to Excel keyboard shortcuts, etc that don’t translate to LibreOffice Calc, but managable for home use.

Important FYI!
Although buydig is a legitimate seller, they do something very weird with this – they ship a copy of your redemption code instead of emailing it. Just be aware, you aren’t getting it today. Not a problem for most of us I know, as we’re just extending years of service, but to some it may tip the decision.

Is there a way to purchase the Microsoft suite outright rather than as an annuity payment? Thanks.

Yes, depending on the year. Make sure you distinguish between MAC or PC before purchase. MAC is higher.

Hi Heronva. I searched on Groupon and there are really very discounted which prompts me to believe some could be scams. Do you know any reliable seller in Groupon or link that I can buy from with no hassles? I am very confused how on Amazon or Microsoft is $99/ year while here was like $20 lifetime

Actually it is legit, I purchased the Office 2021 MAC and 2021 PC versions. You download the link as you would do for anti virus or other software you purchase online today at Amazon, New Egg, etc. Let system set, then go to “MyStuff” on Groupon to find your purhase/link. I paid about $13 for PC version and around $21 for MAC for Christmas. I wasn’t picky about the year I had. I do advise that you keep the product key because it identifies that you purchased the software and can use for MS Office support (now called OFFICE only) or if you change computers. As it states, it is only for one computer not multiple. They also have the Office 2024 version around $35 or the CD version at $150 plus. Check it out and make sure you come back and let the forum know it works.

As a working adult if there’s an option for me to buy a lifetime software subscription for 70-90% off, i’ll do that and avoid giving my computer a virus.

Now during my teenage years on the other hand…

A warning: buydig.com either had or still has an unacknowledged data breach. Multiple people have reported receiving spam/phishing/”blackmail” to their buydig email with their physical address.

buydig denies a breach, so they either refusing to acknowledge it, or haven’t detected and mitigated the issue.
