Our Verdict
$400 bonus works out to be a 5.33% annualized return and $750 bonus works out to be a 6% annualized return. Much better than standard savings accounts but comparable to some high yield accounts, still worth doing for some people.

Does anyone get the bonus? I opened this in July, and think I met all the requirements, but nothing happened yet.
Seems dead, the landing page is a 404.
This bank is super Chex sensitive. I went in person to Los Angeles area branch to open the personal checking promotion. The rep showed me my 2021 Chex list of 6-8 accounts opened and asked if these were all opened by me. I said yes and explained that I am always searching for the best rates and customer service. She said that my personal checking application would need to be reviewed and to await a call in the following week. Safe to say that I did not expect to be called back.

Refused to open without EIN
Do not go in for biz checking unless you have a Corp, llc, or assumed name.
They will not accept sole prop and EIN.
Personal checking account made it so the visit wasn’t a total waste.
I’ve succeeded with a biz account using a sole prop in the past, but it did take some back and forth with supporting documentation.
I have an EIN & Seller’s permit for my Sole Prop. However, I was told by the branch manager that they don’t accept home based businesses…
They are offering $300 bonus for personal checking account as well: https://www.hanmi.com/personal-checking-offer/
Promotion offer is valid for a new Personal Regular Checking account opened from April 25, 2022 to July 31, 2022. Only one (1) account is allowed per customer.
To qualify for the offer, you must be a new checking customer, must open a qualifying personal regular checking account with new money. A new checking customer is defined as a customer who has not had any existing personal checking account with Hanmi Bank within the past 180 days from the date of the account opening. New money is defined as funds that are not held at Hanmi Bank.
You must also enroll in e-Statement within 30 days after account opening, must conduct minimum of one (1) ACH debit/credit or five (5) POS debit card purchase during each of the first three (3) months, and must maintain a 3-month average balance of $20,000 or more for the first three (3) months. The cash bonus is determined based on a 3-month average daily balance on the account opened for the first full 3-months. Starting date for the 3-month period will be the first date of the new month after the account is opened; if the account is opened on the first day of a new month, that date will be the first date of the average balance calculation period. Cash bonus will be paid to your new checking account within 60 days after a qualifying account has been opened for six (6) months.

Any folks open successfully in branch?
I have a branch close by, but would like to know what requirements are necessary for my sole prop “business”
If they’re as easy as Wells Fargo, I’d give it a shot
Mine insisted on seeing a DBA for a sole prop. I would HUCA at another branch, but there aren’t any nearby.
In terms of ease, I wouldn’t count on it. Lots of issues with bonus payouts on the personal side in previous years.
Lok Hang Wong,
We had no issues with the bonus payout on the personal side.
the deposition requirement is pretty high… I might better off holding back and use the fund for other checking/saving offers
Note that the payout is “within 60 days after a qualifying account has been opened for six (6) months.”. Thus, we may need to keep the account opened for 8 months with a min daily balance of $2,500 for months 4-8 to avoid the monthly $8 fee.
