This is waived if you open the account with an initial deposit of $25 or more. Cash Rewards Checking $0 Monthly Fees
There are no monthly fees associated with the cash rewards checking account.
Early Account Termination Fee
As far as we could see there is no early account termination fee, you’d want to keep this account open for at least a year to get the full rewards anyway. Just keep in mind there is an inactivity fee of $7.5 per quarter if you have less than $1,000 in deposits and the account isn’t used (important to note if you plan on keeping the account open for the annual $5 bonus).
Our Verdict
I don’t like the fact that it requires a year of constant attention to receive the full $175 bonus as well. I’d much prefer an account that pays out slightly less, but pays it out in one lump sum. We haven’t added this to our best bank bonuses due to the unknown of hard/soft pull.
Applied for this account about two months ago. They did a Chex inquiry and asked that I come into a branch to set it up. I passed due to laziness/pandemic but I may come in later when I’m heading into LA county.
There’s a much better deal at the moment:

DP: CC funding is $125 max; fund with CNB posted as purchase
Opened on-line,or in-branch?

Opened an account at the Downey branch omw to Portos. Experian soft pull and was offered a car loan. I have lots of chex inquiries but the banker didn’t mention it or seem to care.
Thanks for the DP
Interesting to see some locals here… LOL
Another Downey local here. 🙂
From the T&C: “$5 Monthly Service Charge (Waived for Members with Direct Deposit or Use of Bill Pay every month)”
So I’m assuming “Bill Pay” and “ePay” are the same thing, in which case you’re using ePay monthly to get the bonus anyway so the service charge is moot.
Thanks, updated
Keeping the account active won’t be hard for a year if you’re already going for the other yearly requirements (i.e. debit card payments). Not too bad. But i’ll wait on the hard pull info.
Also, $125 max in credit card funding for all accounts you open up, in total. Visa/MC only.
If you’re brave enough to live in Hawaiian Gardens (deceptively named), you should get a $25 bonus.
Lol
