- Open a new Union Bank credit card and make $200 in purchases
The Fine Print
- 300 Checking Bonus: Valid for new Union Bank personal checking clients who open a Priority Banking checking account online and complete one of the following qualifying services within 60 days of account opening: (i) complete a direct deposit of $1,000 or more; or (ii) complete ten (10) or more debit card purchases (excluding cash withdrawals, transfers, or ATM inquiries); or (iii) open a Union Bank personal credit card and spend $200.
- Qualifying services must transact from the same Priority Banking checking account or new credit card.
- After qualification, the bonus will be deposited into the Priority Banking checking account during Feburary 2018.
- If your account is not active and in good standing, you will not receive the bonus.

- A qualifying Direct Deposit is an electronic deposit of your salary/paycheck, pension or government benefits (such as Social Security) from an employer or the government. Transfers from one account to another or deposits made at a banking location or ATM do not qualify as a Direct Deposit.
- All bank account bonuses are treated as income/interest and as such you have to pay taxes on them
Avoiding Fees
Unsure if there is any early account termination fee
Priority Bank Checking $30 Monthly Fee
Account required for this bonus has a $30 monthly fee and the only way to waive it is within average monthly ledger balances of $50,000 or more in linked eligible Union Bank personal checking, savings, money market, retirement, or time deposit accounts and/or its investment subsidiaries, or a Union Bank linked mortgage.
Our Verdict
They have a $200 bonus that has a much more manageable $5 monthly fee. I wouldn’t recommend either bonus to everybody due to how crazy Union Bank is with closing accounts for any and all reasons. I will not be adding this to our list of the best checking bonuses.

I’ve opened three checking accounts this year (one business, two personal). If I open this account, do a $1,000 direct deposit, and run a transaction or three through the account each month, should I expect to receive the bonus in february? Does the bank have a history of not paying out due bonuses, or just closing accounts quickly after signup, due to excessive number of accounts? They use the phrase “If your account is not active and in good standing, you will not receive the bonus.” which to me sounds like they can decide for themselves whether or not they want you to receive the bonus.
I am a CA resident and would love to take advantage of the offer. Just don’t want to waste my time!
thanks
I just did the $200 offer ; didnt require $1000 but $500 I believe. Yet to see the $200 btw in my new account
Opened and they closed my account within days bc of suspected fraud- called fraud dept and rep was extremely hostile and was asking questions like ” do you even know where the nearest union bank branch is that’s closest to you?” and “what is your cell phone provider” and how long I’d be using them. Refused to transfer me or tell me his I’d number and would only give his first name and that’s he’s the only person in his dept that can deal with this. Union bank is a joke
wow…pretty awful.
the word “fraud” is thrown around far too easily, and shitty companies use it to mean whenever someone isn’t making them as much money as they’d like.
the nature of our game ; things like that used to bother me, but just ride the next wave and flash your smile on the sand 🙂
Sounds like the same rep I talked to when they closed my accounts in May-June.
Sadly, sounds like quite a few others’ experiences with Union Bank, too.
They seem very conservative with new accounts and critical of Chex activity — they approve your account and change their mind a week later, per several accounts.
