Update 3/7/25: Reader Sam notes that this deal now requires 6 months of paid subscription.
Update 2/10/25: There is now a $300 offer on Capital One Shopping (targeted or publicly available?). It’s not found by searching Lively directly; instead, go to Events > Shop Winter Essentials and find it on that page. You can also use this link and find it on the page. Let us know if it’s working for you. (ht reader Phil)

Our Verdict
Reader Tony shared the following information:
Tracked for me buying a $40 Flip 2. They also charge a $35 activation fee upfront, so minimum $75. With surcharges & taxes my final invoice was $86.31. It had me select a wireless plan but did not charge me for it, and I didn’t have to activate my new phone for it to track. Shouldn’t have to really, terms are to simply buy a device.
$53.69 money maker plus a free device I guess. Not everybody will have the Capital One offer.
Mine is one of the ones pending until mid-May. I paid the first bill in March.. now I have one bill that’s overdue and another one coming up soon. If I simply don’t pay it what are the odds at Cap One Shopping doesn’t pay out the cashback in mid-May? Debating about how to play this. I never used the phone, just activated it once and it’s been sitting turned off in storage ever since. I do think it’s sketchy that some of us got stuck with it pending for 3 months.. so I don’t feel guilty about this at all. I’m just trying to figure out how to pay as little of the bill as possible while still getting the Cap1 cashback. Also, will this get sent to any kind of collections? I don’t have any experience with this stuff as normally I pay bills on time.. this will be my first time ever not paying a bill on time. Would love any insight into it as I do feel a bit stressed about this whole Lively situation. Originally it did say it was pending for 1 month then it changed to 3 months. (mid-May now).
They’ll probably sell your debt to a collection agency. It’s an automatic process for them and tmobile would do that for a <50 bucks debt so Lively will likely do the same. You can try pleading with the Lively billing, some people have had success with that. But I doubt it would work unless you are really good at spinning a good yarn.
Called two days late so got stuck with the 2nd bill. I should have cancelled right away like last time but was worried it wouldn’t track.
I received an email today from CapOne Shopping saying Unlock a $250 Lively offer until March 27th…
Does anyone still have a May payout date? Have you paid any of the bills they sent out?
I have a $45.28 bill from Lively for two months that I haven’t paid yet. And my C1 payout date is still on May.
exact same boat. I paid 1 month (March) and already have April’s bill due.. I’m guessing we need to pay it soon to avoid service cancellation and collections, etc. I tried calling twice and asking them to waive (never used, etc.) but they wouldn’t budge. What do you think though? My personal pet peeve is paying for crappy service I never used.. but don’t know how else to get the pending $300 in mid-May
I just paid March’s bill. Hoping to trigger the payment for C1 this way.
just to be clear, it didn’t trigger the payment for me.
I am also stuck in this…very annoying
Surprisingly didn’t have many issues cancelling the line. They don’t prorate bills so I got stuck with a second month but after hearing some of the complaints in the comments I’ll take a slight cut on my cash back to avoid further dealings with them. If folks aren’t sure what to do with the phone after doing the offer – domestic violence agencies are always looking for cheap inactive phones (since they can still call 911) so I’d recommend seeing if they’d want it as a donation.
i plan to give the phone to my 2 year old nephew. seems perfect for 2 – 3 year olds
Received 300 Capital One Shopping Rewards bonus on 3/13/25 and original purchase date was 2/10/25 even though I used a coupon code and was able to redeem for instacart gift cards.

If you have not cancelled your Lively phone service yet, you can port out the number to US Mobile and get 30 days of free 30 GB service plus unlimited talk and text. Just remember to cancel auto renewal so that your credit card is not charged 3 days before the end of the billing cycle.
Also, if you have a family member or friend who has US Mobile, ask them for a referral link to get an additional 25.00 in rewards for you and 25.00 for them.
I just ported out my number on 3/16/25 and the process only took less than 30 minutes.
First call Lively using their customer service number at 800-733-6632 then dial 3 for porting out.
Tell the customer service that you would like to port out your number and tell them that you need the account number and a transfer pin.
Lively will make you an account password (that you can set with them, I recommend 6 randomized digits) and use as the transfer pin.
On 3/17/25 I called Lively to cancel my service. They told me that I had already been billed for the second phone service billing cycle, but they were able to apply a credit to the account so that I owed nothing.
Just in case, I also sent a cancellation email to their customer service at [email protected] just so I had written proof.
Thanks for the info. Can you share your US Mobile referral code? Also what is the process like for installing U.S. mobile service on a phone?
And any ideas on what to do with the flip2 phone?
Edit: Sorry, I guess we’re not allowed to post or solicit referral codes. I highly recommend searching on reddit, etc.
I know the Lively promotion was brutal in terms of unexpected costs, so every little bit helps.
I’ve requested that my previous comment be deleted, so here is the edited post with relevant information:

If you have a smartphone, all you need to do is scan an esim QR code that is sent to your email after you complete the onboarding process and or is available on the US Mobile account dashboard.
Or you can order a sim card for 6.99 (but it’s 50 percent off/ 3.50 right now)

As for the flip2 phone, it can be sold on Ebay. Funny enough, someone managed to sell it for $36.00 recently on Ebay on March 17.
You can check the ebay sold listings history here:

I plan on keeping my flip phone b/c it is unlocked, so you can add another cell providers sim card without issue and there seems to be a trend of esim only phones coming out.
I think the USM referrals only vest once the referee spends at least $50 in service charges. If ppl are just moving there temporarily to park the number for a month on free trial, then there’s no referral bonus.
You’re correct. It sounds like the person who is referred will get the $25 sign up bonus, but the referrer only will gain access after the following terms are met:
A referral is successful when the new customer activates a plan, spends at least $100 in their first 6 months in their account, ports in their number, and keeps an active continuous service with US Mobile during the 6 month period. Light plans and custom plans do not count in this referral program. (Please note that if the referee chooses to be on annual plan; the value will be prorated on a monthly level to count towards the $100 requirement).

Omg cancelling is a bit of a mess. Called late at night – not open. Called during the day, the agent claimed I had to read him a code sent to the phone – which was still in the box. I said the last guy was willing to cancel. Anywho, called again after going home and unboxing it – turns out I did not need the phone/code but he did want the phone number (which I did not have). Thankfully he let me cancel. As others noted, I was charged for 2 whole months so 44usd. I paid via phone with my Ink.
imagine someone from their target audience who’s 90 years old trying to cancel this bullshit. Lively what a sad fucking company
Cash posted! I redeemed for a shaws (safeway) card only to find it can’t be used online! I do all my groceries thru the AA portal. Whelp, guess I’ll be venturing inside the store for the next few weeks. I suppose instacart would’ve been better!
My payout still shows PENDING today, but it has been paid and I’ve ordered gift cards with no issues.
My payout day says today as well but nothing yet and some already received theirs. Will report back if I get ir but just in case took a screenshot.
Got paid earlier today. My net gain should be around $180. Thanks for the heads up!
Mine says the same, but the rewards hit early this morning 3/14, though the status on the purchase itself still shows pending. The $300 rewards can be redeemed already.
Yes i got mine too earlier today. I don’t know if my reply is still pending or never went through. Total was around $128 for me because I paid one extra month of service and made the difference. The phone is kind of good hope is unlocked and can be used abroad
Received payout today:
2/10: Bought the flip2 for $95, used the ‘FLIP10’ code
2/12: Tracked in portal
2/15: Phone Arrived, called Lively customer support and asked to defer the service till May
3/13: $300 credited
I will call to confirm the cancellation of service in a week. $205 moneymaker
