Capital One Spark up to $300 Bonus for Referring a Business

Update 6/26/19: More people getting this email offer today.

Update: Readers have clarified that the amount of the bonus varies with some being $300, some $200, and some $100.

The Offer

  • Capital One is sending out an email to some Spark cardholders with the ability to refer another business to either version of the Spark card (Miles or Cash) and get a $200 bonus for each approval.

The new member gets the standard public bonus of $500/50,000 for $4,500 in spend.

The Fine Print

  • Max 9 referrals at $200 each = $1,800

Our Verdict

We’ve seen offers variously for $750/$7500 and $1k/$10k and $2k/$50k recently, so this isn’t the best offer of recent times, but this $500/$4,500 offer does match the standard public signup offer. For those in 2-player mode who can get the $500 + $200 referral bonus for just $4,500 spend it’s actually a pretty nice offer. We aren’t sure if Capital One sends out 1099s for credit card referrals.

Please do not leave referrals in the comments.

Any idea if we can get the 500+1500 offer along with the referral…?

Cap One does send 1099s for referrals. I received one for tax year 2017 when they released Venture/Quicksilver referrals. I believe the total amount was $600.

Others have said it, but beware of what the link generation page says.
My e-mail says $200, and the link page only says $100.
I went ahead and try, and indeed it gave me $100 only.

I decided to try generating again, now the link page says $200…

Cap1’s system isn’t very robust.

They’re probably learning from AmEx here.

Haven’t gotten this- I have actively used my spark card over the last 1.5 yrs (was trying to get under 5/24 again so almost all spend was on this). Originally signed up during 11/2018 $1k offer. Got fees waived again this year.

They waved the fee for me last year but refused to do so this year.
They offered to convert to the fee-free spark that earns 1.5% so i did.

My email says $200, but when I follow the link it says $300. The same link worked for both my account and P2’s account. i.e. I click and then login with either account and I get a unique referral link.

Thanks Sparky, this is very helpful. I’ll try mine when P2 gets approved.

The bonus amount for the referrer is targeted and may vary.

My account got targeted for $300 per referral, up to $1800:

At the same time, my SO only got targeted for $100 per referral:

Interesting. I received this offer but it is only offering me $100 per new account referral.

This card would count against 5/24.

Anyone able to get it to work? Tried when I got the email and again when this was posted but it doesn’t work both times.

Getting what to work? I was able to get the referral link by clicking through the link in the email.

It isn’t working for me either. I get an error message. I spent a long time on the phone with them today and after speaking with 4 people, 2 were IT, and then getting transferred to a 5th person, I gave up. I did find out that there is supposed to be a “refer another business” option when you log into your Sparks account online under “rewards and benefits.” I don’t have that menu option and IT couldn’t figure out why other than I wasn’t targeted. So, why did I get the email?

I received an e-mail for $200, when I click the link in the e-mail and sign in, I get an error saying ‘We’ve hit a snag’. No go across multiple browsers and operating systems.

I’m not sure if any of us share a commonality, but I’ve had my card number replaced twice due to fraud – just brainstorming.

I won’t bother calling given your experience. Thanks for your comment
