Reader OG got an email from Capital One that their Capital One Spark business card is being changed over from Visa to Mastercard, with a new card coming in the mail which will have a new card number.
I assume that means all Spark cards are being transitioned over from Visa to Mastercard, let us know if you got notification of this as well.
Was anyone succesfull asking to get their Spark card changed to MC over chat/phone?
Will this have an effect on what payments I can use my Spark card for on Plastiq?
For those interested- MasterCard Wireless phone insurance is a huge pain. I filed a claim after I absolutely destroyed my phone in a bike crash. It took 3 months of me checking in every few weeks before I actually got paid.
Any DPs on new apps automatically being MC?
I got my card on the 19th and it’s Visa.
Thanks for the info. William Charles this seems to have always been the case IIRC, where it’s variable whether you get a visa or MC for spark cards. Do you have any more insight?

Great, haven’t had a mastercard since Barclays
Same for me and P2
That’s awesome 😎
How is MC better… which trick am I missing out on
Why does it matter when the acceptance is pretty much the exact same?
Costco only takes VISA currently so anyone that shops there personal or business wont be able to with this card anymore. To add to this, I already have a citi double cash card which is Mastercard for 2%. It was nice having (1) mastercard and (1) visa 2%
MC has way better exchange rate abroad. The spread is like 0.1-0.2% at MC vs. 0.4-0.8% at VISA. Might seem like a small difference but it really adds up if you spend a lot abroad.
I received the same email for my Spark Business. It also states the following new benefits are being added:
-Cellular Wireless Telephone Protection
-Mastercard ID Theft Protection
Makes sense that it would now have Mastercard benefits.
They changed it few months back for me. Will it change the account opening date effect credit history?
Do you happen to know if it’s a MC World Elite/Pro?
If I downgrade a card and it gives new card number does that count toward 5/24?
When you need a new account number due to fraud, I don’t believe that resets 5/24, because if so it seems like I have to get a new Capital One number every couple months…
But this is also a product change so it’s diff
no.. you would get new car numbers if you card was compromised and you had to request a new one..
