Capital One Travel: Venture & Venture X Cardholders Get Free 4th Night On Select Hotel Bookings

Capital One launched a new benefit for Venture and Venture X cardholders to get the fourth night hotel booking free when booking a single stay of at least four nights at certain hotels in the Premier and Lifestyle Collection.

There are a host of other perks when booking these luxury hotels through Capital One:

  • Premier Collection hotel come with a $100 experience credit and complimentary daily breakfast for two.
  • Lifestyle Collection hotel come with a $50 experience credit.
  • Both Premier and Lifestyle Collection bookings come with potential room upgrades, early check-in, and late checkout.
  • Booking any hotel through Capital One Travel always gets you 5x rewards on the Venture card and 10x on the Venture X card.

The tricky thing is going to be to find a hotel in these collections at a price point that makes sense, then the 4th night free will be an awesome deal.

Here are the terms and conditions (login required):

Stay at this property for at least four consecutive nights and receive the fourth night complimentary. This offer is only valid for reservations of at least four nights made within the indicated offer dates (blackout dates may apply). This offer cannot be retroactively applied to bookings previously made. If the eligible reservation is subsequently shortened, the discount may no longer be applicable. Special offer is not combinable with other offers unless indicated, including, without limitation, on lower rate offers. In certain circumstances, this offer may not be available for all dates in your booking window; if you don’t see the offer with the property during the booking process, then it’s no longer available. If eligible, any complimentary nights will be reflected at the time of booking and applicable taxes and fees for the complimentary night will be removed at check-out. Savings displayed are based on offer rates provided by the property and may vary slightly. In some cases, this offer may be repeatable based on duration of stay. This will be dependent on the individual property and will be reflected at check-out if applicable.

The Preimer Collection is typically the best ROI for the $300 travel credit IF you can book a reasonable rate (I find booking far out or close -in the best prices). It makes the $300 worth $125‐$160 more – but had great luck with douple dipping IHG Plat credits ($10 Raid the Bar, Kimpton Password, elite points and nights, plus better upgrades on top of the free breakfast and free wine/beer reception)

The IHG reservation # is on the one orginal email conformation – not the long Cap1 with the # sign in it. Just add the reservation to the app.

104 properties listed for the Aug 22-26 dates I checked. A couple places ended up being $115/nt after the 4th night free (Tulum MX for example). You can see all the properties when you click on the “You Have 19 Promotions Available” link at the top of the travel portal page. (or however many promotions you have).

It’s really limited, there are only like 50-60 hotels listed.

I bet it’s ‘too good to be true’ or super-limited, but, I like that at least somebody’s trying to emulate the old Citi Prestige ‘4th night free’ benefit.

IHG has fourth night free. I booked four nights in Aruba for this reason.

Nice!

P2 made me go to see the flamingos there… a bit tacky for my tastes, but, ya know what they say, ‘happy wife, happy…’

Just be careful with your return flight; super long lines at AUA sometimes. At least it’s pre-clearance if you’re flying back to USA.

If you click on the search for Premium stays it brings up a link for the four for three nights locations.

Flights – yes.

Rental cars – if a Hertz-aligned company (Hertz/Thrifty/Dollar), theoretically yes.

Hotels – no.

@Chaudhry @Lightspeed

Hotels

YMMV -but with Premier Choice Bookings (we have done 5) the email has two confirmation/ Reservation number one is the long Cap1 starting with a # and a dashed number the other is the chain reservation and I have added these to the apps and tracked the bookings in the app and then earned elite nights/points and double dipped the Elite perks.

Non- Premium stays even calling and sometimes getting my loyalty number added has never earned nights/points.

Amex FHR is also YMMV but ±90% at Hilton/Bonvoy/Shangri-la Circle/IHG we have earned points/nights

Renowned Hotels (Chase UA Quest card $150 credit same perks as FHR except 4PM) earned ALLCOR loyalty points and night at Fairmont Whistler this past Spring (its new benefit). Showed in app.

Chase Sapphire portal $50 Hotel credit no nights/points adding loyalty at checkout (but did show in app)

With Delta Stays ( Delta Amex Biz Plat) $200 credit on non-refundable booking called and asked for loyalty to be added for Shangri-la Vancouver (now rebranded as a Hyatt) in March showed in app -no Shangri-la Circle points.

So I am curious if the new Amex Plat credits won’t follow new Chase CSR EDIT $300 credit (2 nt min stay) the other thing I’m curious if you can book a stay beyond the 6 month Jan-June or July -Dec window – if you can do back to back bookiings it for 11-12 months out to could be nice. I PC two Freedoms (old CSP) to CSR in june so cant use credit till 10.26. Also curious about the credit with cancellations if it will be like FHR.

If the FHR goes to a two night min it will be a devaluation as the $100-$150 amenity credit will be spread over 2 nights and 4 PM late check-out is nullified.

For us it will be a deal killer if Amex Plat/ABP follow the ABP/Surpass $50 Hilton creit or $200/$50 Dell/Saks credit – where Hilton stay or Dell/Saks charge has to post in credit quarter/half.
As we tend to book 9-12 months out.

But If we can stack consecutive bookings into the next year and book back to back (P1/P2‐P1/P2) then could be make for a real intrestimg and valuable (even more so on a Triple-dip in December).

How do the Cap1 travel portal prices stack up against the others like Citi, USB, Chase and Amex.

Will probably vary a lot, but in my limited recent experience, significantly cheaper than chase, a few bucks more than direct booking. Value of 10x points more than covered the differential in the couple bookings I made last month.

That’s for non premier/lifestyle properties though

Similar experience C1 also tends to be cheaper than Citi with greater selection.

As competitive as most of the other portals I’d say, I check all of them and sometimes it’s the cheapest option, sometimes it’s 30% more, no rhyme or reason.

They do offer price matching, which while extra effort, has been relatively painless and very worth on large bookings.

Is that price matching possible vs direct bookings or just other portals/3rd party?

Have you ever done a price match on a rental car? And more specifically, can you price-match on a “pay later” or refundable rental car booking?
