Our Verdict
Best offer in the past was 100,000 points. That offer was more flexible as it didn’t have the $250 travel credit but had a slightly higher minimum spend requirement at $5,000. Still worth considering/doing for most people as I’m not sure if/when we will ever see that 100,000 point offer again. Read these things everybody should know about Capital One cards. Does CapitalOne still pull from all three credit bureaus? I would rather they only pull from one. I keep my credit frozen btw, so wondering if only unfreezing one may do the trick. If that is the case, then which one should I unfreeze?
Also, what is the cash value of 75000 points?
I just ran the pre-approval tool and got the message that I am not eligible for any of their cards, maybe because all bureaus are frozen? I have a savings account with them and according to their CreditWise tool, the score is 850 out of 850. Go figure!
Yes you have to unfreeze your credit for that tool to work.
it may vary by state so YMMV but my last approvals have been with only transunion unfrozen. there are many DPs where people have gotten approved with just EX/EQ or TU/EQ unfrozen. look for DPs based on your state

CO doesn’t allow mortgage payments via Plastiq.
Isn’t that only the case for c1 biz cards (and of course visa)? As of oct 2023 it should work: https://support.plastiq.com/s/article/Capital-One-Card-Policyedit: nvm card brand = all c1 cards under visa restrictions
not very accurate, just got an approval via the preapproval tool and a rejection from an actual application.

anyone here have success getting a Venture while already holding a Venture X?
Yup. I originally had two Xs (p1+2) and got approved for venture and referred p2 with it and also got approved.

Applied on Saturday and instantly approved (1/24, 800+). Also called right away to expedite but the they didn’t have the option to, though they did have option to select replacement card which is slightly quicker at 4-6 days instead of 7-10 days, have a big spend coming up; probably won’t make it sadly. Status is still at “creating”…
I was in a similar position and was able to just use the virtual card that generated. I had some big charges within the same day
How long ago was that? I could not do this with venture x (end of June) and had to wait for the physical card.
I applied on 8/20 and the virtual card was available within an hour

They switched to MasterCard recently.
Declined despite 800+, plenty of income. Reasons: too many cards opened in last 24 months (3 personal, 2 business, 1 authorized user), and too many cards active (23).
