Our Verdict
Standard bonus is $200; I don’t think we’ve ever seen $250. Probably smarter to sign up for the Venture with 60,000 points bonus, but this is an option for someone who can’t meet the $3,000 spend or who is allergic to annual fees.
Bear in mind that Capital One pulls all three credit bureaus. Check out these things to know about Capital One credit cards before applying.
Hat tip to r/creditcards
is there a way to make the referral link offer more than 20k miles?
Such vitriol for Capital One. All the more reason to take the SUB and then sock drawer the card.
Almost everyone here would grab the SUBs if they could. Almost nobody can get approved.
If you have great credit, avoid, they don’t like people who don’t make them money off of fees and interest.
Capitalone used to be my to go card for everything. I billed hundreds of thousands to my card over the last 10 or so years of using it. Received one annual credit because they totally messed up sending me a replacement card overseas but that was years ago. Called for a retention offer and was rejected twice. Canceled card and never looked back. Yes, I am aware that a retention offer is not a given, but there are much better cards out there.
It’s a trap!!!!!! AVOID AT ALL COSTS
About a month ago I apped for Venture and was denied and they offered me instead VentureOne with CL=$1k and no SUB (I declined of course).
I wonder what they consolation offer you will get when you are denied for VentureOne.
Five years ago CapOne was giving out cards like candy, but since then it’s been the opposite extreme, and any app is almost certainly a waste of 3 HPs for nothing.
