Cardless Announces Partnership With LATAM

New credit card issuer Cardless has announced a partnership with LATAM Airlines Group S.A to issue a LATAM credit card. At the moment there are no details regarding the card, but it will launch later this year. It’s possible to join the waitlist for the new card by clicking here.

Cardless has previously focused on partnerships with sports teams, offering co-branded Manchester United, Cleveland Cavaliers, Miami Marlins, Boston Celtics, and New Orleans Pelicans. How useful the LATAM card is will depend on the earning rates, sign up bonus and other benefits.

A little crazy that they don’t allow you to get multiple cards. I’m lucky I got the Celtics card for 4% Restaurants and 7% Uber. Marlin, Man U, and Cavs cards got boned, I’m just lucky I’m from Boston and having that card was the best % back for me. Would feel bad to not be able to get my team card because the cash back sucked.

Can you elaborate on how the Marlin, Man U, and Cavs cards got boned?

make sure you pick the one you want….
Can I apply for multiple Cardless products? No. Currently, Cardless customers may open a maximum of one credit card account. At this time, if you are a current Cardless customer, it is not possible to change to a different product or close your account and open a new one.

Keep in mind that LATAM points for US members expire in 2 years, and it’s not at all clear if you can even renew them. (They changed this several years ago, after the merger between LAN and TAM, from 3 years with a paid LAN flight reset to 2 years with no guaranteed reset.)

This is the only airline in the Americas that I can think of offhand with a “hard” expiration (ie, one you can’t reset easily with earning and/or redeeming).

And also keep in mind that their partner airlines are constantly in flux, since they used to be in OneWorld but dropped out (after a big investment by Delta Airlines) and yet have not joined any other alliance.

So unless you’re really sure you can use all the LATAM points you earn within 2 years, I wouldn’t recommend you jump into earning LATAM points.
