The Offer

Direct link to offer

  • Cathay Pacific Asia Miles is offering a 10% bonus when transferring credit card points to the program

The Fine Print

  • Valid until January 31st, 2020
  • Must register for this promotion
  • The Extra Miles will be credited to Registered Member’s Asia Miles account within 8 to 10 weeks after the end date of the Promotion Period. Members shall notify Asia Miles Limited if they do not receive the Extra Miles by 31 May 2020

Our Verdict

Normally these types of transfer bonuses are from the credit card issuer, rather than the loyalty program. You can transfer to the Asia Miles program from American Express, Citi & Diners Club. If you don’t have an immediate need for the miles, it might be worth waiting just in case one of these card issuers decides to also offer a transfer bonus during this same period (that has happened with American Express in the past with Qantas for example).

Diners Club US doesn’t have Asia Miles as a transfer partner and I don’t recall ever seeing them as a partner.

When I go to the link as directed to view participating Amex cards for US region, it just says “Participating American Express Credit and Charge Cards”, so does that mean this works for any Amex card that can transfer to Asia miles? https://www.asiamiles.com/en/earn-miles/finance-insurance/partner-detail.finance.point-conversion.am.united_states.html/amex

Careful with this. Check the list of cards specified before you transfer as this offer only applies to cards listed.

You’re reading the terms wrong. American Express and Citi cards work for this promotion. Under the American Express side, it says “Participating American Express Credit and Charge Cards”. Under the Citi side, it lists the Premier, Prestige, and the Chairman.

That basically covers all of the relevant ones for us. It does not cover Diners Club as the original post says, so that would need to be changed, but the relevant cards for Citi and Amex are there.

Yeah that severely limits the usefulness of this.

I just called AM here in Hong Kong and was informed that this promo only applies to the cards listed. There is only one card listed for the US.

It lists multiple partners in the US as being eligible.

From the terms, Clause 3. “Registered Members who convert reward points (“Points”) from the Designated Credit Cards issued by Asia Miles Finance Partners (See definition in Clause 4)”

Clause 4: “Asia Miles Finance Partners refer to Partners featured under “Other Partner Credit Cards” at Asia Miles website (Please visit Asiamiles.com > select your designated “Location” > select “Earn Miles” > select “Finance & Insurance” under “Ways to earn” > Click on “Other Partner Credit Cards”).”

https://www.asiamiles.com/en/earn-miles/finance-insurance.html#other-partner-credit-cards

It lists American Express, Citi, and Brex.
