Our Verdict
Slightly different breakdown than the previous 100,000 point bonus. The upside to this bonus is you can get 75,000 points with $4,000 in spend. Might be worth just doing that portion of the bonus.
is this available to canadian residents? Also any chance of getting the first year annual fee waived?
How long do we think this offer will last? Would be nice to wait until January to apply to maximize two years of status but I care about the points more.
I got an email with this offer, and the offer ends on January 15, 2025.
I got this card last year and better offer came out less than week later. They would not honor it. Think Chase does not match on partner cards. Aeroplan had an anniversary bonus promotion in July of which I never got my bonus even more than 10 weeks out. Hold time on calls to air Canada always hour or more. Careful on PYB categories! “New” categories of dining and groceries on PYB site are only paying at .8 cents and not 1.25! Got screwed on that for awhile before I noticed the math seemed wrong. Family sharing program has been “temporarily “ close to signing up for months. Am canceling my card when fee due.
any recent dp on 5+/24?
there a good targeted deal which havent been mentioned,
spend 150k point to book hotel with aeroplan get 50k back
douple dip if you have aeroplan credit card you get 4th night free
so 150k for 4nights of hotel worth $2000+ easily, very good deal imo
which really only would be 100k for 4 nights since you get 50k back
also, if you did the 20% transfer bonus earlier it woulda cost about 80k AMEX point
40th anniversary = 40% more points

funny on the aeroplan website it has credit cards from three separate banks(amex, TD, CIBC) but not chase. Are the ones on the aeroplan website for canadians only, so the chase card is the only real choice in usa?
might be irrelevant. the chase card offers the best terms plus it has pay yourself back.
Aeroplan card does have a Pay yourself back but I think it is limited now to 40K points now and is also only for travel and groceries categories. I think they just added the groceries option recently.
I really have not found much value for the Aero points unless you fly internationally. Its almost impossible to use them for a United flight, no matter what the promotional materials say
any DP on churn rate for this? I dont see any 24 or 48 month language yet.
There’s 24 month language below the Apply button: “This credit card is available to you if you do not have the Chase Aeroplan Card and have not received a new cardmember bonus for the Chase Aeroplan Card in the past 24 months.”
Has anyone any one has successfully used Aeropoints for a Domestic (e.g. United) flight? If so please let me know.
I’ve spent a lot of wasted time trying to find a domestic United flight (e.g. LX to NY) on the Air Canada site and I am not seeing ANY flights available ever. I’ve been trying for months, different dates, different locations.
I know that after I post this some are going to say something like “Availability on partner operated flights is limited, if there’s no award inventory it won’t show up “ I know that you can see what reward flights are available in general with Skyscanner, Star Alliance etc. but again, I do not see any available flights on United at the Air Canada site, where you have to actually book such a flight. My understanding is that you cannot use Aeropoints on the United site or any other site then Air Canada.
Any suggestions anyone?!
Hey, John
If by LX you meant LAX then I can see a bunch of LAX-EWR reward flight tickets for Oct 8 and Oct 7. Non-stop service by United. They are 12.5K + CA$47
Just make sure you are trying to book your award flight tickets when logged into your personal account with Aeroplan and tick the box in “Book with points AEROPLAN” option
Thanks for your help Alex,
Yes, I meant LAX. I’m always logged in and check the Book with Aeroplan points box. You found these on the Air Canada site? If so is this the U.S. Air Canada site?
Hey, John.
Go to aircanada dot com
Sign in to AEROPLAN (right top corner). They will send a verification code to your e-mail.
If the log-in was successful you will see your name and the points available in the top right corner.
Go to Book -> Flight and start searching for a flight.
Hmmm….
and then I get the following messages:
“It is not possible to search for flights which have both an origin and a destination in the United States.
It is not possible to book a flight segment between two cities in the same country, unless that country is Canada.
Please contact Air Canada Reservations for assistance with this type of booking.”
You were right, John.
I found the Oct. 8 tickets without logging in. My bad.
This sucks.
Sorry
I spent my points on an international flight a couple of months ago
I recently booked oma to ord on ua metal using aeroplan. Idr if i switched to the Canadian version maybe? (Using csp so i really don’t care if they charge the taxes in cad)
There is another offer for this card: https://www.creditcards.com/credit-cards/aeroplan-credit-card/
$1000 lower spend requirement for the first 70k miles. No opportunity for the additional 30k miles.
this one seems better
How do you figure?
