Our Verdict
Previously the bonus was two certificates for up to 50,000 points each. This is a more flexible offer, but less total points available. Probably worth waiting for a better offer to return for most people.
New terms seem to say pay yourself back is ready, but haven’t been able to find the option on Chase
“Use Aeroplan® Points With Pay Yourself Back®
Aeroplan points may be redeemed for a statement credit using Pay Yourself Back for purchases in the travel category made with your Chase Aeroplan Card within 90 days from the redemption date through December 31, 2023. For information about Chase rewards categories, see chase.com/RewardsCategoryFAQsOpens in a new window. Categories may change from time to time without notice. Each point you redeem for a statement credit towards qualifying purchases with Pay Yourself Back is worth $.0125 (one and a quarter cents), which means that 100 points equals $1.25 in redemption value. Chase has the right to change redemption values at any time. Statement credits will post to your card account within 3 business days and will appear on your credit card billing statement within 1-2 billing cycles. Statement credits will reduce your balance but you are still required to make at least your minimum monthly payment. Chase reserves the right to determine which purchases qualify for a statement credit.”
For people who get the card and spend the $50K to get the next level status, when do you see the status upgrade?
I have a slot to burn. I have chase Amazon, Marriott, CSR, and can’t get United/Southwest due to ticker.
Should I pull the trigger here?
Was also looking at Disney. Meh.
That barely even gets you one way to Europe in biz class.
How much 70k points are worth in dollar amount if one wishes to cash them out to checking account or as a statement credit?
i don’t believe it’s possible to cash out Aeroplan points to a checking account, however, they can be redeemed via Chase Pay Yourself Back for 1.25cpp for eligible purchases
Pay Yourself Back is not available yet. Maybe it will come in a few months, then it will be 1.25cpp up to an annual cap of about 50k points redeemed.
$0
same as United Miles
70k is pretty weak…. they just can’t get this card right.
I disagree, they got this card exactly right.
The launch offer (2*50k + 10k + 10eUp after 4k spend) was industry-leading for a mid-range card for $95.
The follow-on offer was (1*50k + 10x points on travel/dining up to 51k points), so required 5.1k spend to max out.
70k for 3k spend is competitive with mid-range cards (Venture 75k, UA Explorer 70k, Citi Premier 80k, CSP 60k/80k etc.) and more flexible for people who do not want to spend 50k+ on international business/first awards.
Don’t forget that you can still earn 10x on international purchases (up to 15k points) if you apply now through Sep 30, so if you maximize that it is a 85k bonus.
prettystrong I assume the 10x bonus on international purchases is targeted and not publicly available to those opening their cards now?

It’s a public offer to all cardholders (no registration required), so I assume you would also get it if you applied now.
I could not find this offer on the Chase web site. Would you need to have been a cardholder at the start of the promotion to qualify? Anybody apply for this card after July 1 and got the 10x bonus?
