Chase will open the Chase Sapphire Boston Lounge on May 16. As part of this they have announced some unique access rules for the lounge, previously it was through anybody with Priority Pass would be able to access these lounges. The access rules are as follows:
- Chase Sapphire Reserve and JPMorgan Reserve cardholders and two guests can access Sapphire lounges for free an unlimited number of times. Additional guests are charged at $27 per guest (children under 2 are free). Authorized cardholders ($75) also get access for them and two guests.
- Chase Ritz-Carlton cardholders can bring an unlimited number of guests and visit the Sapphire lounges an unlimited number of times.
- Other Priority Pass holders can access Sapphire Lounges once per calendar year for free. This is across the lounge network, not once per individual lounge.
- Chase Sapphire & Sapphire Preferred cardholders get no access to these lounges.
When these lounges were originally announced I was wondering what the point was as it was assumed all Priority Pass members would get access to these lounges as they are co-owned by The Club (who run Priority Pass). With only being able to access them once per calendar year it makes a lot more sense. It seems a little weird that Ritz-Carlton cardholders can bring unlimited guests, that could lead to overcrowding just from one cardholder.
Thank goodness they are limiting the PP and sapphire preferred plebs.
More lounges are good, helps situations like in Denver where you have to wait in line for 30 minutes to get in the Centurion lounge.
Boston is not Denver, and never will be.
Do Authorized Users of Ritz cards also get unlimited access? What a great perk! This retired card continues to receive improvements!
Yes.
How about if you have multiple Priority cards from different credit cards? Are they tracking your name or maybe each card allows 1 access per year?
Chase might set these rules for PPS holders: (1) one can visit Chase Sapphire Lounges no more than two times per rolling 30-day period; (2) if one visited lounges five times or more in the past 24 months (CAUTION: both Chase Sapphire Lounges and any other lounges count!), he or she may be denied for visiting the Chase Sapphire Lounge.
And Chase will pull a lounge report from the Priority Pass Bureau to see how many times you have visited in the past 24 months. Lounge visits as other PPS holders’ guests may be counted but could be removed if you called Chase.
People will just do MDD on lounge entries or enter from the business side of the lounge
I assume this is for CSR cardholders? What is the source? A limit of 5 lounges per 2 years is crazy.
I was denied entry at Austin airport with my Ritz Carlton card. They went back and reviewed their SOP and it wasn’t in there. I didn’t have my Sapphire card on there but luckily they accepted my Apple Wallet.
Cool story about the Chase Sapphire Terrace. What does that have to do with Chase Sapphire Lounges?
It’s not really clear to everyone the difference tbh. No need to be snarky.
Did you have to tap the card anywhere? Or was it just sufficient to show them the wallet?
No tap needed
That’s insane. Apple wallet doesn’t show the name on the digital card anywhere so I can just add my friend’s CSR and get in??
It is indeed according to the term that Terrace only accepts JP Morgan Reserve and Chase Sapphire Reserve while Lounge accepts JP Morgan Reserve, Chase Sapphire Reserve AND Ritz Carlton
That’s strange. Under the Chase sapphire airport FAQ:
“Chase Sapphire Reserve, J.P. Morgan Reserve and The Ritz-CarltonTM Credit Card primary cardmembers and authorized users who have activated their complimentary Priority PassTM membership have lounge access. Sapphire Reserve and J.P. Morgan Reserve cardmembers may bring up to two guests per Priority Pass Membership card, per visit, for free and additional guests for $27. Ritz-Carlton cardmembers may bring unlimited guests at no charge. There’s no additional charge for children under two. “
🎉woo-hoo 100th comment! 🎉
Does anyone know if this rule includes other Chase Sapphire Lounges? I went to the one in Hong Kong earlier this year and it was almost empty with a handful of people here and there.
The way you people salivate over Airport lounges makes it sound like they have free hookers and coke in there. Get a grip.
I’ve never seen any free hookers but their free sodas do make me salivate.
Some do. Hookers have to travel too, and the Freestyle machines have Diet Coke.
Everytime I’ve been to this lounge @ Logan in the last 2 years, there has been a wait, usually 30-45 minutes, even though they quote an hour. It was a decent lounge before this “upgrade” and overcrowded, will be interesting to see how the crowding situation is now.
Priority Pass couldn’t stop the hordes before, and it certainly won’t now that this lounge is actually worth barging into.
How can that be when the lounge supposedly doesn’t open for 4 more days?
