(Update: Ending Soon) Instacart: Chase Cardholders Get Up To $15 Monthly Statement Credits & Instacart+ Membership For Up To 1-Year (Sapphire, Freedom Cards)

Update 7/26/24: It seems this $15/$10 monthly/quarterly credit is ending on July 31st. Be sure to use up your monthly Sapphire Reserve credit, as usual. Also be sure to use up your quarterly Freedom and Sapphire credits which reset on July 1st, if you have not yet used them.

The Offer

Direct Link to offer

  • Chase teams up with Instacart to offer a statement credit to offset Instacart purchases on all of the various Sapphire and Freedom card varieties. This is on top of the free Instacart+ membership which was released in June. Once activating the Instacart+ membership, you’ll be eligible for the credits.
    • Sapphire Reserve and JP Morgan Reserve gets a $15 statement credit each calendar month; plus free Instacart+ membership for 12 months
    • Sapphire and Sapphire Preferred gets a $15 statement credit each quarter; plus free Instacart+ membership for 6 months
    • Freedom, Freedom Unlimited, Freedom Flex, Freedom Student, and Slate cards get a $10 statement credit each quarter, plus free Instacart+ membership for 3 months

Our Verdict

This is an interesting new addition for the Sapphire Reserve card, especially. Someone who uses Instacart on a regular basis can see a full $180 benefit here. Even if not, maybe you can get some value out of this. Let us know if there’s any easy way to use this credit up.

Remember, again, to cancel your Instacart+ before the end of the free membership since you’ll get auto-charged the renewal fee. I’m not positive, but the monthly/quarterly credits will probably stop after cancelling the membership.

The $60 annual credits on the Sapphire cards and $40 on Freedom cards can hopefully be somewhat useful as well. Again, you’ll only get one or two quarters of credits when utilizing the free Instacart+ trial on these cards. After that the quarterly credits probably won’t continue.

I’ve been enjoying Instacart+ thanks to Chase for a while, but the membership is set to end late September.

Any way to get free/discounted membership covered by some other card? If not, are there any DPs of Instacart offering a discount if I cancel my membership?

If I read this right, no $15 Instacart credit on my CSP even for this quarter anymore? I didn’t use it by Jul 31.

Gd Correct, Chase Instacart benefit ended on July 31 for all cards. There might be some rollover of Instacart+ membership but no more credits.

Bummer. I used up the credits on my CFF and CFU, but was holding off the CSP credit for later.

Just realized that I haven’t used it. If I order today July 31st which is the deadline, the charge won’t be posted today. Is it still eligible for the credit? I wonder if it is transaction date or post date that matters when talking about ending on July 31st?

Yes, I added multiple cards, activating the free membership for each one that ran consecutively.

Can we get the credit in the same month on multiple cards using one account? I.e., I have 3 chase cards, can I place 3 orders for $15 on one account using different cards and get the credit? Seems I have been missing out if so…

Yes that’s fine. Just has to be separate orders to do different payment methods.

Any updates on any new programs since GoPuff, and Instacart ended/ing. Is Door Dash ending as well? What is Chase replacing these programs with to justify the high fee?

I cancelled my Reserve in May because all the programs were ending. I specifically asked if anything was being extended or if new programs were being considered and they no, but just spouted off that the Priority Pass and $300 credit covered the $550 fee alone. Couldn’t justify it.

Most inept bundle partnership Chase could possibly announce next quarter…
Dominos. Arby’s. Am-Pm.

Does the credit also work that a credti that you had used to get IC+ in the past? I used Chase Freedom fist to get IC+ and got the credit. I currently have IC+ with CSP(got the $15 credit already), will I get credit with Chase Freedom if I use that card on an order?

Yes, as long as you haven’t used the $10 quarterly credit for your Chase Freedom.

Yes, it works with any card you have previously activated. There is no need to wait until one Instacart+ subscription is activated to activate the rest. Each one you do just adds to the date on the subscription. So if you have two people in a household, and each has a CSP, and you have two CFU’s and 3 Freedom Flex’s between you, you would activate them all in one account and get 27 months worth of Instacart+, and could have been using all 7 credits each quarter.

Without the $180/per year credits for instacart I definitely cannot justify keeping this card. Dropping it at renewal for sure. Will project change to the free sapphire.

Never heard of a free sapphire, but you could product change to a Freedom Flex or Freedom Unlimited.

there is. it’s just called the chase sapphire, no annual fee and only available via product change. 2x dining, 1x everything else. it does have the same travel benefits (lost baggage, primary rental car coverage, trip cancellation, etc) as preferred and reserve. but tbh it’s pretty much useless imo

If you plan on going for another Reserve/Preferred down the line, PC to a different family like Freedom. I downgraded to a basic Sapphire and then had to change it later because you couldn’t hold a Sapphire when applying for one.

The card is still worth. Dash Pass will make up for the loss of credit with Insta cart and you stil have priority pass access among other things. There are dozens of benefits to dig through. Recently gold Marriot promo among them. And no, friends, I don’t work for Chase or shill credit cards.
