The signup bonus on the Chase Freedom cards has long been $200/20,000 points with $500 spend. For the past couple of years, Chase has been offering an additional bonus of 5%/5x back at Grocery Stores during your first cardmember year, up to $12,000 in spend, on both the Freedom Unlimited and Freedom Flex cards.
Over the past few days, we began seeing two new offer versions; there are now four different offers you might see when searching for the Freedom cards. Apparently, Chase is either planning to end soon the Grocery offer version or, more likely, is in testing stages to see what works.
- New: Get $250/25,000 with $500 spend.
- New: Get $200/20,000 with $500 spend, plus get 5% back at Gas Stations during the first year, up to $6,000 spend.
- Get $200/20,000 with $500 spend, plus 5% back at Grocery Stores during the first year, up to $12,000. This is the regular offer we’ve been seeing for the past number of months, and is also the offer currently showing via referral links.
- Get $200/20,000 with $500 spend. No additional bonus.
There’s no special link to find the new offers, just doing a regular search turns up the different offers each time for me. I see the Gas Station offer at this link, for example, though you might not see it there. I see the $250 offer (sometimes) at this link, though you might not see it. The $250 version is the hardest to find from the four offers.
Personally, I’d prefer the Grocery bonus option, though some might prefer the $250 upfront bonus and others might like the Gas category more than Grocery (albeit with lower limits). If you like the Grocery offer, be aware there is a chance of it getting pulled in the coming months.
Here’s a referral if anyone would like to use

Any news on the $250 plus 5% grocery in branch? Has that changed?
I went and they said it was either 250 or 200 + grocery/gas. You cant do 250 and the 5%
Where can I find the $200 bonus and 5% grocery offer? Thanks.

The no brainer choice is the 5% on grocery for the first $12K for the first year. All the other choices are mediocre.
I just got approved… not missing out on so many offers that stack!
So, about the “This product is available to you if you do not have this card and have not received a new cardmember bonus for this card in the past 24 months” thing. Does that mean you can’t repeat the given card (and get the bonus) if you’ve *ever* done it before (you haven’t cancelled the card) or just in the last 24 months?
Assume less than 5/24, so this isn’t that question.
No, it means if you do not have this card and have not received a new cardmember bonus for this card in the past 24 months.
That’s really a lot of offers to track lol
im still seeing the groceries on my account which i hope stays up for another 2 weeks and ill ask the banker before we even proceed. if i can make everything work in my favor ill get almost 300 back on 500
I am glad I got in on the 5% groceries.
Still seeing it through referrals.
Can you live without food?
Can you live without driving?
You can clearly see the better offer
Someone is going after this game wrong.
So Amex Platinum then, because I can’t live without Walmart and Soulcycle.
