[Expired] Chase Dining (Tock): Earn 10x Points On Up To $500 In Purchases

The Offer

  • Chase is offering Chase Sapphire Preferred/Sapphire Reserve cardholders 10x points per $1 spent on up to $500 in spend on Chase Dining purchases (including ordering takeout or delivery through Tock, making a prepaid reservation, or joining a Virtual Dining Series experience)

The Fine Print

  • Valid until June 30, 2021

Our Verdict

Chase launched Chase dining last year. Remember you need to go through the Chase dining hub powered by Tock to be eligible for the 10x. Not sure why there isn’t an official landing page for this offer, but we did get contacted about this via one of Chase’s regular press partners.

I tried booking a prepaid reservation, and the interface isn’t letting me pay by credit card. It’s not letting me opt out of paying with points.

Tock originally launched as a partnership with high end restaurants (think Alinea in Chicago, Per Se in NY, etc). At least in the Seattle Metro area, several restaurants have partnered with Tock, particularly since COVID as their platform is cheaper than other restaurant reservation portals (think OpenTable).

Tock seems to add a $1.00 “Order fee” to every order, pickup included. People should watch out for this. Because of this fee, I would always choose to order directly through the restaurant or any other app which allows pickup. Most do not charge any fees for pickup, making Tock an outlier.

Interesting, wonder if that is regional based. I don’t have that fee for any orders placed through Tock in Seattle. I have ordered through Tock several times as many restaurants have their pick-up platform through them here

Might be in a city that enacted one of the city fees that kicked in late last year. Some cities capped the fees that delivery services could charge so the delivery services added an additional fee.

Not sure what region you are in, but in my experience Tock is basically only 1+ Michelin star restaurants, which exclusively use Tock for orders+reservations. Even if you can call/email the restaurant instead, that just means that they put the order/reservation into Tock on their end.

I have a CSR and live in Portland, Oregon.

After logging in to Chase Dining http://dining.chase.com I select my CSR. Is this 10x offer the first choice Chase Sapphire Dining or the third choice Tock To Go? I have a feeling it’s the former but I wanted to confirm.

In PDX with CSR as well. Would like 10x back on one of the Eem offerings.

You get 10X with the 3rd choice of Tock to Go. You just can’t order directly from Tock for 10X (must be through Chase’s landing page similar to using online portal)

You guys are too harsh! Although none near me, if you do score one that you want to patronize, I would assume that if you choose to pay with your card, you would earn 10X points per $ and then once it has posted, you could choose the pay yourself back option — that is not too shabby especially for Reserve members!

C’mon, you guys are better than this kind of click bait.

Probably should clarify the title somehow; I saw this and got excited, then read it’s only for some obscure third party dining portal that includes hardly any restaurants.

Agreed. Might have been better to say Chase Dining through Tock: Earn 10x Points On Up To $500 In Purchases

It’s a niche system, but far from “obscure”. It’s the system used by most of the top restaurants in the USA…

Title is misleading.

Agree. Title got me excited, then read the post, which is quite a letdown. Of course, the “Chase Dining” service is misleading in itself, for a card that has premium rewards on dining already, so not exactly DOC’s fault. I thought this meant we were getting 10x points on basic dining purchases.

The name of this.. feature.. is misleading. Blame Chase, not DoC.

respectfully disagree….. your post and those that link to it (fm() are underwhelming. Had no idea what toc or tic is, nor chase dining either. (and I’ve had a CSR since they first introduced it) If this promotion is narrowly confined to an app with a VERY limited list of high end participating restaurants and/or to a third party service that charges add on fees, then frankly,…. doa.

Unfortunately selection of restaurants is very poor. No restaurants near me are included, so pickup would be a pain.

What about the Airbnb experiences statement credit?
