American Express is giving all cardholders an additional three months to meet minimum spend requirements for sign ups through December 1, 2019 through May 31, 2020. According to MtM Chase is offering an additional three months as well, but you need to request the extension. Obviously there is no guarantee you’ll get this extension, but it’s worth asking for if you need it. Best to send a secured message as that way you have a record of what has been asked for.
Extensions do not apply for cards open from April 1, I guess because everything went back to normal after that. /s
I sent SM about P2 cards opened on 5/8 and 5/20:
For Hyatt card opened on 5/8, given one additional week (until 8/31) to meet first tier spending, no change on 6mo second tier spend. For IHG opened on 5/20, extension denied. We’re close to the threshold on the Hyatt card, not so much on IHG.
Debating calling in and asking again but P2 hates making those calls.
We got notified yesterday by email that Chase is extending our minimum spend requirement period to 6 months, even though we never asked. This is for a Chase United MileagePlus Explorer card, opened on March 6.
I sent an sm, but they said they cannot extend the offer
for accounts opened from April 1, 2020. Anyone who got similar response like this?
Has anyone had any luck with Capital One?
Called about Ink Unlimited and was told: “We are not extending those right now, but things change every day.”
Ditto on Biz Ink Preffered. I was quoted the usual 110 days over secure message (for me that happens to be June 14th) and that “Extensions of this date is not available.” (I sent the inquiry almost a week ago, and got this reply today)
It was only about a 10-minute wait calling for my CSR I opened January 11th. I was told since it was opened this year it was already on my account for six months, but she’d put another note about it on my account. I’d still obviously ask just to make sure of the extended terms. Also, since she said about it being opened THIS YEAR, I wonder if that would mean a card like one of the Hyatt’s with “X” amount in 3 months and “Y” in 6 months that was opened in late December wouldn’t get it’s 6 month bonus period extended to 9 months. If so, maybe they’re using a January 1 cutoff time, compared to the December 1 that AMEX is using to determine the extended time period.
I sent an SM yesterday, 4/8, requesting an add’l 3 months to meet the minimum spend on Chase IHG Premier account opened around Feb 26. I mentioned AMEX’s gesture of extending the minimum spend for 3 months to its customers, noting that it is extremely difficult to meet a minimum spend at this time. The automated reply said, as others have said, “…expect a delayed response of a week or more. Please don’t resend a request
because it could further delay our response. Thanks for
your patience.”
What about those tiered bonuses where you get something after 3 months, and another bonus for more spending after 6 months? Do they now give you 6 and 9 months for those?
I had just asked them about the last date to meet my spend but they replied (in a week due to covid), that they have extended it to 6 months. I did not ask but since I just messaged about it, they did it.
Incredible. They never even replied to my secured messages
I asked for an extension last week for on a new card and they agreed to extend the deadline but only by a little less than a month
