(Update 5/1/21: The extension is now showing in the Chase login)
Chase has announced that the Pay Yourself Back feature that was originally slated to end on April 30, 2021 will be extended until September 30, 2021. Chase Sapphire Reserve cardholders get 1.5¢ in value and Chase Sapphire Preferred cardholders get 1.25¢ in value when redeeming points against the following charges: grocery and home improvement stores, dining at restaurants, including takeout and delivery services and contributions to eligible charitable organizations.
If I use this option I’ll have -$1000 statement credit on my next statement. I don’t intend to use the card anymore…..can this -$1000 statement credit be cashed out as a check if I contact chase or am I stuck using the card to get ride of the -$1000? Thanks
You can either request a check or wait 6 months. At that point, they automatically issue you a check. This is according to my statement, as I also have a credit.
Trying to maximize my points related to restaurant spend… I have the Freedom Flex and the CSP, but also have the US Bank Altitude GO. At first I thought 3% Restaurants + 1.25x multiplier (CSP) and spending in other categories on the Flex would be my best option. But, now I see it’s only 3.75% effective cash back, when Altitude GO is 4% on restaurants. Am I missing something, and does spending in other categories on the Flex to get more cash back affect this? As of now, I’m thinking Altitude is the right card to use. Thanks.
Does this mean those purchasss that were artificially bumped up to expire 4.30 will now expire on their actual date? Right now Chase is not showing any eligible purchases so maybe the PYB program starts over with new purchases made beginning 5.1.21?
Am I correct that it doesn’t make much sense to use CSR for groceries as the earning is only at 1x? So you can 1.5x in some ways. An Amex BlueCash or Amex Platinum for first 6 months are better at 3x and 10x respectively? Or even the Chase Flex Freedom for first one year at 5%?
If you already have a pile of points earned at Chase, it’s good to redeem them at 1.5x with PYB. If you’re only using newly earned points, yes you can do better than 1.5x elsewhere.
It’s the 3X at grocery stores extended?
I don’t think so
Amex! Do something!
Oh, they do the worse version of Chase pay yourself back.
Now I can pay AF with points: sweet!
Also gives 50% boost for CSR
It’s May 1, and my dashboard now shows 9/30/21 on the Chase Sapphire Preferred for the 25% bonus on:
– Dining
– Grocery Stores
– Home improvement stores
– Select charities
– Fund a Vaccine Ride with Lyft
Before today, it was still showing 4/30/21. Glad to see it’s officially here for another handful of months.
Phew. Mine shows the same. Why the unnecessary stress Chase? Was trying to max it out just in case with purchases and CC payment cycles. What a pain.
I maxed out the last day anyways. Less work to do now, I guess
William Charles Chuck mine shows this as well.
Update:
Earlier today, eligible purchases on my Sapphire Reserve card were showing zero days left, even ones that had been made in the last few days (and thus should have shown 87 days left).
Now (at 1:50am ET) a recent eligible purchase shows 89 days left, as it should, and it shows the 50% bonus, also as it should.
One surprise, though: my $450 Sapphire Reserve annual membership fee, which posted 3/1/21, is now showing as an eligible purchase, even though it isn’t listed in the “Featured redemption categories.” (It had not shown as an eligible purchase a few hours ago.)
A charge for fast food from yesterday just showed up in my pay yourself back portal with 89 days showing for redemption.
Oddly, my annual fee of 550 is ALSO showing as being redeemable (from 2/01/2021) with 50% more value as well… but it has 1 day left for redemption.
The banners above, showing the categories, also now say 9/30/21. Looks like we’re set here.
