Before we get to this offer, I know this news was broken awhile ago. I was away on vacation and we missed it. I think it’s such a good/important deal that it’s worth covering for anybody who missed it. If that’s not you, just skip this post.
The Offer
- Chase Hyatt cardholders need to register for this promotion before August 31st, 2016 and then any points or points + cash stay they have between July 11th and October 31st will receive 10% of the points back (within 6-8 weeks). Existing bookings do not need to be rebooked to receive this rebate.
The Fine Print

- You will receive 10% back on the Hyatt Gold Passport points you redeem for award stays, points + cash, suite upgrades and dining and spa activities.
- Points redeemed for Avis car rental certificates or points transferred to airline partners are not eligible for this promotion.
- Please allow 6-8 weeks after your points redemption has been completed for your bonus Hyatt Gold Passport points to be loaded into your account.
Our Verdict
Last year they offered 20% of points back, so this offering isn’t quite as good. That being said for people with stays already planned it’s fantastic. It’s also nice that this card isn’t affected by the Chase 5/24 rule, so it’s still a good option for people that don’t have many of those Chase cards remaining to them. I just wish that card would come with a points based offer instead of free nights.
Hi William. Thanks for the further attention to this promo. Did well with this last time around, when it was 20%…. (thought to a question here, that time around, it did not apply to places where we used our free nights — e.g., Montego Bay Zilara)
My question: Happens I’m already on vacation — and planning several more Hyatt stays….. Did successfully register for the promo. Yet wondering about a small detail…. Even as I have the Hyatt credit card already attached to my Hyatt passport account, I don’t actually have the physical card with me….. Soooo, when checking into Hyatt properties next few weeks, I’ll have to add a different credit card to guarantee the registration (for incidentals).
Hope this doesn’t negate my 10% back on the points for this promo. Am I missing something in the fine print? Thanks
Don’t think it will, might be worth sending Hyatt an e-mail/tweet just to confirm though.
Doc did you say this card isn’t affect by 5/24 rules?
Can you confirm that ? lol That would be nice
That’s correct. Quite a few cards are excluded. https://www.doctorofcredit.com/chase-524-rule-explained-detail-need-know/#What_Cards_Aren8217t_Affected
Whats a point worth? Maybe 2 cents? What’s the annual fee on the card, $75? So you’d have to get back 3,750 points to pay off the annual fee? Meaning a single reservation of 37,500 points would do it. I guess with my recent 3 x 20K = 60K reservation rebating 6,000 points that covers it. Assuming you use up all the Hyatt GP points you earn of course…
Card also comes with a free night annually as well, that helps to offset the AF.
Howard, are you saying people who used their credit card free night at a 30K property got 3K back?
When I enter my Hyatt number, the site says “Invalid Promotion Code”. Has anyone able to successfully register this promotion today?
I had a stay on 7/11 right after enrolling – no 10% back points have posted yet but it has only been just short of 3 weeks, far shy of the 6-8 weeks in the terms. I’ll report back when they do post.
I heard that people who booked with free nights also got 10% back. Any more DPs?
I’m about to test that — as I’m at Zilara Cancun presently with the Mrs. Fabulous — off the charts, really — place. 10% back of what though would be the question. Icing on the cake if it happens.
