Since the start of February it’s been possible to sign up for the Chase IHG card with a 80,000 point sign up bonus by calling a special number with Chase. On Monday/Tuesday of this week, that phone number stopped working. It’s still possible to get the 80,000 bonus, although there is a little more risk involved now.
What you need to do is this (before doing this, log into your IHG account and see if you’re eligible for the 80,000 + $50 bonus, it’ll show for everybody but click apply to see if you’re actually eligible:
- Apply for the 60,000 point offer (or 60,000 + $50 offer)
- Call or send Chase a secured message asking to be matched to the 80,000 point offer
- Hang up and call/message again if unsuccessful
Obviously there is no guarantee that Chase will match you to the 80,000 point offer (and as far as I know you’re never able to get matched to 80,000 + $50 bonus) but here are some recent successful data points: 1, 2, 3. If you’re interested in this offer, I’d recommend signing up sooner rather than later. I’d also recommend reading these things you should know about Chase credit cards before applying.
Hat tip to reader Rob and this /r/churning post
I applied for the 60K +$50. Sent a secure message to Chase they said contact us when you have met the min spending. Contacted them a week later and they matched the 80K points but no $50
Wow. I applied for the IHG 80k Points on last Sunday along with United Explorer 50k Miles. Both went pending but eventually it got approved today.
Thanks Doc!!!
I applied for 60k + 50. After getting that, I took a screenshot of 80k + 50, and asked to be matched. They only agreed with 80k but no 50. I tried twice and got the same result.
Yeah, like I said in the article I haven’t heard of anybody getting matched to the $50 bonus.
