Our Verdict

Previously this offer only required $3,000 in spend. We have also seen a 140k + free night certificate bonus. Personally don’t think this is a good bonus due to the higher spend requirement but it could be useful for some. This card also sometimes offers an extra $50 when doing a dummy booking so it might be worth waiting a few days to see if that offer comes along if you do want to go for this one. We won’t be adding this to the best credit card bonuses.

IHG Premier 2nd time around, applied in mid-October and earned the 140K bonus in January. Figured there was no harm in asking, so sent a secure message requesting a match to the new offer.

Pleasantly surprised to find a reply that an additional 25K points would post after the next statement closes and are already shown as pending on the rewards page. Maybe 20+ years as a Chase credit customer means something, more likely just lucked out — YMMV.

Can I apply for the card but use my wife’s rewards member number?

Just got approved for this card today with 17k CL. The minimum spend will be mostly taken care of by IRS tax payment. Hoping to use the points for a trip this summer!

IHG Holiday Inn and Marriott both have resort fees. That means your free night is not free. You still have to pay for parking, entertainment, meals, WiFi, taxes, and additional items. I stayed in the IHG Holiday Inn Waterpark Orlando, FL and it had high resort fees. That is where you need to have CSR $300 travel stipend to pay the hotel fees. Chase World of Hyatt fans celebrate no resort fees. Apply for the high elite status promotions when they are advertised. I signed up for the temporary Diamond Elite free so we had free breakfast for the entire family.

I got this card during the summer and never received an IHG account number and IHG shows no account, even though my Chase Credit card statement shows 175K points. Neither Chase, not IHG has been helpful and I don’t have access to the points. Opening a new IHG rewards account has just confused them even more

Doesn’t the card have IHG membership number on the back?

This happened to me when I applied for Alaska Air line credit card from BofA. I have the Alaska airline reward number on my BofA card, but they input someone else name, address, tel number attached to the Alaska reward. BofA cannot correct it, Alaska said the information does not match their record. All the miles earned from that card are wasted.
