Chase announced today a ‘Month of More’ with the month of May having increased redemption rates and higher portal rates:
- Redeem Ultimate Rewards points for Apple products at increased rates. This includes 1.5 cents rate on the Sapphire Reserve, 1.25 cents on the Sapphire Preferred and INK Preferred, and 1.1 cents on the Freedom and other no-annual-fee cards. Now that PYB 1.5 cents is dead, this might be more interesting to some people.
- Redeem Ultimate Rewards points for select gift cards at a 10-15% discount. The most interesting one here is Home Depot at a 10% discount. There are a few other brands like Chipotle, Gap, Applebee’s, and a few others as well.
- Increased shopping portal rates on select brands like 5% at Walmart/Sam’s, 10% at Nike and Lowe’s, and a few more. I typically just compare on cashbackmonitor before making a purchase.
Cant see using this over turning into hyatt points.
Is it worth using chase points on a MacBook 16″ or Homepod Mini?
Comes out to 166k points or 6.6k points.
For me and most others, no, but ymmv.
If you have the Reserve, it’s like a 33% discount, isn’t it? (20% for Ink and Preferred cards)
Wouldn’t 1.5p/c for CSR would be 1/3 discount on apple products?
They do this same Apple deal twice each year, spring and typically late fall. The later one is usually more popular because of new products being available around that time.
Cashed out my CSP CF and CFF points ( worth ~$1.5 k) yesterday. GCs are VEY hard to spend ( I still have Target+ Walmart + AMZN GCS worth $2.7k since past 1.5 year which I am unable to spend).
We miss out on interest with these GCs unless we have immediate plans to spend them. Also, we already have portals to buy GCs at discounts anyway. Nothing is as good as cash ( which can be invested/ earn interest) unless the discount is >=25% in current economy.
I feel that way about a lot of gift cards but I use Target/Walmart/Sams/Amazon regularly. So I continue to buy those at a discount.
Call the
Nigerian Prince . He can help you with excess giftcards.
Walmart and Target sell groceries so would be very easy to use gift cards.
Apple products is quite interesting.
Interesting apples is quite products.
Home Depot must be a YMMV. I’m not seeing the discount.
I see the Home Depot discount on my personal Freedom / Freedom Flex cards, but not my business Ink cards.
Discover also has Home Depot at a 10% discount (I think that’s a standard thing).
same here
