Two days ago Chase added the Chase Marriott Premier Business Card to their range of business credit cards. Below are the highlights on the new card:
- 50,000 Marriott Points after $1,000 in purchases within three months of account opening
- Free night stay at category 1-4 property after approval, free night stay at category 1-5 property on card anniversary each year
- Annual fee of $99, first year the fee is waived
- Automatic silver elite status & 15 credits towards elite status annually (an additional 1 credit towards elite status is given per $3,000 spent)
- 5x points at Marriott locations, 2x points at restaurants, office supply stores, internet, cable, phone services, car rental and airline tickets purchase directly with the airline, 1x points on all other purchases
This card is pretty much identical to the personal version of this card. There are a couple of key differences though, the personal version of this card currently comes with a sign up bonus of 70,000 points. It also has a lower annual fee of $85 instead of the $99 fee the business version comes with.
The only positive the business card comes with is that it earns 2x points on the following purchases: office supply stores, and on internet, cable and phone services. The other business cards that Chase offers earn at a much higher rate (usually 5x) on these categories so I can’t see this being very valuable for most people.
If you held both cards you’d have 30 elite status credits annually, which is 20 short of having gold status.
Our Verdict
This offer is pretty ordinary, if you want a card that earns at a high rate then we’d suggest going for the personal card due to the higher sign up bonus offer and lower annual fee. We also think that there are much better hotel cards out there than this one.
