Chase Now Lets You Dispute A Charge In App

Chase has added the ability to dispute a charge within the Chase app. As far as I know this wasn’t previously possible. Citi announced a similar feature back in 2016 and Capital One have had the same functionality since before even then. Always good to see financial institutions add additional functionality such as this.

I think it would be a perfect time to create an article

“Everything you need to know about Credit card disputes”

(I did notice over the years that Amex and Citi are the easiest to dispute while Chase is very tough with sometimes requirements to fill out an affidavit.
Also in general disputing once per statement a charge under $25 will result in an instant permanent credit (at least with Amex and Citi) it might not be ethical but it works. (Fraud is illegal but again once a month on your 6 Amex cards and your numerous Citi DC and Dividend cards on a charge under $25 works 😜).

I almost disputed a $10 hold for a bottle of water at an amusement park. The charge was a whopping $6.00, for a single bottle of Dasani, at the entry point to a roller coaster, on a hot day, at the top of a steep incline! – Should be illegal.

But, to then have the nerve to hold a whole ten dollars… is out of control.

You are at an amusement park; what else would you expect

It’s actually a pretty reasonable hold given the cheapest item was likely $6, and you could buy multiple items on one hold.

It was a vending machine. 1 item per swipe. So, holding more than the purchase amount was overkill.

Tried it and it says “It looks like this part of our site isn’t working right now”.

Yep only works on personal cards, not business cards.

This is good to know.

I recently used the Citi app to dispute charges (Sinemia) and it was fast and painless.

I don’t believe all types of disputes can be handled via the app. Depending on which option you choose as to why you are disputing the charge, you may have to call in.
