Update 1/15/23: Deal is back for 5% back, up to $60. Valid through 1/23/23. Must spend at least $50. The offer also gives 10% on Economy Plus. (ht David)
The Offer
- Earn 10% or 15% back on you United Airlines purchases ($57 back maximum) when you spend $100 or more
- A number of banks use the same back end for these offers. This includes: Chase, Bank of America, Regions Bank, Suntrust Bank, BBVA, BB&T, PNC, Columbia Bank, Beneficial Bank, and Christian Community CU. You can read this post for more information. Now includes Chase as well.
The Fine Print
- Offer valid one time only
Our Verdict
Not the biggest savings or maximum, but should still be useful if you have a United purchase coming up.

Got 10% cash back from BoA on Alaska credit card when you spend $50 or more, with a $31.00 cash back maximum.Offer expires 9/5/2020.
Again you really shouldn’t put BofA in the title of this. That is complete misinformation. This is a promotion Chase is running with its card partner on the Cardlytics backbone. Nothing to do with BofA.
I only fly United, and had 4 flights charged to my CSR pre covid, and i’m not targeted for this offer? Who are they targeting?
Probably people who don’t fly United regularly
Any reason to think funding the TravelBank won’t activate the cash back? It shows up on my Amex statement as a “Special Service Ticket
Flight from CHICAGO O’HARE INT on August 4
CHICAGO O’HARE INT -> CHICAGO O’HARE INT”
I had success earlier this month with United’s 10% bonus TravelBank offer. Used 15% offer on my Chase card, received notice on 8/9, account credit 8/11. So, yes, TravelBank should trigger. See thread:

I got targeted for this on my CSR, but with a $38 max, so it seems to be variable.
edit: actually just noticed that the screenshot in the article also says $38, unlike the title
Nothing for me at either the Chase or BofA end, and I’m about to spend big on United. Actually me BofA deals dried up about six months ago.
yep—nada for me either.
Targeted only? I am not seeing any offer 🙁
Nor am I. I looked at the lists of offers under both my CSR and my Explorer. Neither included the United offer. Is this just for the Freedom cards?
I’m guessing highly targeted, not a single offer on my 4 Bofa or 5 Chase credit cards.
I wonder if a United gift card purchased directly from United would work? That would be useful. Does anybody know? Any data points?
united doesnt sell gift cards
Unfortunately, to the best of my knowledge UA doesn’t sell gift cards.

I have a staples 5% back. Useless compared to ink cash.
Yes, but CIC 5X is capped at $25K per year, per CIC account , a lot of people sock drawer the CIC the 2nd month of the year.
Buying what? $200 gift cards at 6.95? And which I have to liquidate one card at a time.
The ink cash is the most overrated card now in some parts of the country.
I don’t know either but hopefully they’d at least buy the $300 ones for 7.95!
does gift card trigger the staples 5%?
