Update 10/10/24: Deal is back.
Update 9/111/24: Offer showing again through 10/5/24. This time it’s for 10% back, up to $38 back. (thanks to all who shared this deal)
Update 3/4/23: New offer showing up for peopel again.
Update 2/20/23: Deal is back at 20% this time, up to $50 back. (ht becauseimnew) Looks like this time they added exclusions: “Offer excludes HP, Epson, and Samsung products, gift cards and streaming devices”, so I don’t know if gift cards will still work.
The Offer
- There’s a Chase Offer for 10% back on all of your Quill.com purchases, up to $25 statement credit.
The Fine Print
- Expires 11/25/21
- Payment must be made directly with the merchant
Our Verdict
Quill.com sells office supplies, but also sells $200 and $300 Visa gift cards. The $300 card has a $9 fee, and should be an easy moneymaker. Try going through a shopping portal as well and see if it sticks.
Could be worth it for some, especially if you find the offer a card with an office supply multiplier. I’d guess the offer is more likely to show on business cards (?). Let us know if you see it at any other bank, such as Bank Amerideals.

Anyone tried to use capital one for quill?
For the gift cards, it’s displaying:
Business customer exclusive
We apologize. Due to contractual obligations, this item can only be purchased by registered business customers. If you are a business customer, please contact us for support at 1-800-982-3400.
Is everyone calling to bypass this?
Signed up for a business account and buy with no issues. Well, not while the fee is outrageous.
Wow Quill’s gone nuts. $200 VGCs now have a $21.99 fee.
Anyone having issues getting the Chase offer to trigger?
Purchased a $300 VGC about 10 days ago and took advantage of the discounted paper towel deal for $3.70
Showed up as two transactions, and the 10% offer triggered on the $3.70 order within four days, while the $333 order still hasn’t posted a credit.
Considering calling Chase, but the offer does state “excluding gift cards”, so I’m reluctant to make any noise.
Anyone with similar experiences?
Harry Have you actually received the VGC? The VGC Chase credit typically posts several days after you receive the card in the mail. The paper towels ship quickly, so that credit posts much sooner.
Thanks for the reply. Yes, I received the VGC within a few days of the order. The transactions posted two days apart, so it’s been 13 days since the card arrived and I activated it the same day.
Harry. Yes, that’s too long. I suggest sending a secure message. Since they can see the charge, maybe they will just credit the account. If they ask for receipts, you can always just not respond.
Harry It took quite awhile last month for me. The charge for the gift card didn’t fully post until about 10 days after purchase and then a credit a few days after that.
Thanks Celia – I received the card fairly quickly and both charges posted within two days of each other. It’s been 13 days since the card arrived and still no credit posted from Chase.
Chatted with Quill and asked why there was a $32.99 fee. Quill offered me $32 Quill Cash I declined. Then Quill offered $32 refund, I accepted.
This is still a 15.31 money maker with Ink if you don’t have trouble getting rid of the cards…a bit better than the no-fee Staples deals on account 300 being easier to get rid of than 200 cards. For me the Sapphire Reserve Insurance category changes the game at the moment. One can also hope for CB though RMN, rebatesme and TCB have not worked from previous purchases.
How’s that $15.31 money maker after $32.99 fee?
You get $300 card, $33.40 from the offer (10% of 333.99) and 16.70 from 5% UR cashback for a total of 350.10 for 332.99 that you are paying. So yes its a bit more than 15.31. Its 17.11.
It’s $332.99 for $300. 10% for $332.99 is $33.3. It’s really 30 cents money maker. You still get 5% UR cashback on Staples or Office Depot. In fact, office depot is better making a few more $$. Online order on Quill appears to be far more hassles and have more risks of gift cards not delivered, activated, etc
The worst possible thing you could possibly do here is tell them an 11% fee is acceptable to you.
Like they would care? They sell GCs for the corporate buying in bulk to gift employees/customers/vendors not for churners that buy 1 and 2 cards for rewards points. The prices have been raised specifically so that churners are not going to use this offer for GCs.
They originally raised the price to $342.99 or so.
What you say makes sense in that they’re largely selling to bulk buyers, who request bulk pricing and don’t pay the displayed price for each gift card.
However, someone cared enough to lower the price of these individuals at some point. So there is some precedent here, and I can’t think of much reason to do this other than responding to overall sales volume.
Anyway, I’ll get off my high horse. You can do whatever you want.
Sapphire Reserve has 3% on Insurance???
rj123456 CSR Pay Yourself Back has insurance as a caregory this quarter.
No one is buying the 300 gift card with $32.99 fee, but they still keep the price until today. It’s most likely manually changed by them, not computer algorithm.
“In Demand! 67 sold in the last 5 days”
the clearest sign that it was done manually: they finally changed the fine print disclosing the purchase fee. it still showed as the standard amount for about two weeks.
The 10% on Quill offers are back on Chase credit cards but there is $32.99 additional fee on $300 visa gift card… WTH
I saw that as well. Guess they are not too happy with the influx of customers hitting up the Chase offer.
Justin When does this offer expire? Trying to figure out when the fee might return to normal.
Chase offers expire on Nov 5.
Same 10% cash back offer has appeared on my Chase INK Cash card again – $38 cash back back maximum
Bought 4 $300 gift cards, all activated except 1. Called Quill who told me to call giftcardkey. They told me to call the merchant because the gift card wasn’t activated at point of sale. Called Quill again, they said to call Blackhawk. I said no, they needed to activate it themselves so was transferred to someone else who put in a ticket. I’ll get a response within 4 biz days. Why do I put myself through this. $20 and some cheap toilet paper…
Update: via email Quill told me they can’t activate my gift card so they’re mailing me a new one.
