Chase Partners With DoorDash: Offers DashPass & Monthly Credits To Sapphire Reserve, Preferred, Freedom, Slate Cards

Chase has partnered with DoorDash to offer DashPass and monthly credits to Sapphire Reserve, Sapphire Preferred, Sapphire, Freedom, Freedom Flex, Freedom Unlimited, and Slate cardholders.

Chase Press Release | DoorDash Press Release

There are four potential benefits now available, variously on these cards (as we’ll describe more below):

  1. Free DashPass membership through December 31, 2027. (Those who activate the benefit in 2027 will still get a full 12 months of the benefit.)
  2. Two promo discounts of $10 each calendar month will reflect at checkout. This promo will not work on restaurant orders; it only works on grocery, convenience, or other non-restaurant orders on DoorDash. (To activate the promo discount benefit, you need to first activate the free DashPass benefit. After activation, you’ll find the $10 under “Promo codes, rewards & gift cards” at checkout.)
  3. A $5 monthly DoorDash credit which works for all DoorDash purchases. This ends on January 31, 2025.
  4. Beginning February 1, 2025, a new monthly benefit for a $5 discount on restaurant orders on DoorDash.

Now here’s the breakdown of the benefits by card:

  • Sapphire Reserve cardholders get all four of the above-mentioned benefits. You’ll get DashPass through 2027. And through January 2025, you’ll get one $5 monthly credit which works everywhere and two $10 promo discounts each calendar month which work on non-restaurant orders. Starting February 2025, you’ll get one monthly $5 discount on restaurant orders and two $10 monthly discounts on non-restaurant orders.
  • Sapphire & Sapphire Preferred cardholders get DashPass and the non-restaurant credit. You’ll get DashPass through 2027. And you’ll get one $10 promo discount each calendar month which works on non-restaurant orders.
  • Freedom & Slate cardholders get a DashPass benefit and a quarterly discount benefit. Starting Febaruary 1, 2025, you’ll be able to enroll for six free months of DashPass. (Those who have not yet used the current/previous version of the DashPass benefit on Freedom and Slate cards have until January 31, 2025, to enroll in the current benefit – three months of free membership followed by nine months of discounted DashPass.) And you’ll get one $10 promo discount each quarter which works on non-restaurant orders. (To activate the promo discount benefit, you need to first activate the free DashPass benefit.)

Our Verdict

For some time now, DoorDash and Chase partnered to offer DashPass and $5 monthly credits on the Sapphire cards. They’ve now expanded this to add the $10 (2x) credits each month and to offer benefits on Freedom and Slate cards as well. This is obviously Chase’s move to counter-balance the loss of the Instcart benefits offered on Sapphire, Freedom, and Slate cards which expired yesterday (7/31/24).

This is all a bit confusing since some of these benefits have already existed and some are new. I tried making everything as clear as possible, hopefully we got all the details correctly.

Some stores will have a Pickup option on the order and then you’ll be able to get $10 completely free without the added delivery fees. For someone who values this benefit, the $95 annual fee on Sapphire Preferred can now be offset with the $10 monthly credits.

Can you place an order on 8/31 to use August $10 credit and another order on 9/1 to use September $10 credit and pick up all items on 9/1 to save the number of trips?

Has anybody had trouble applying the promo code? Seems to say “The promotion cannot be applied to this order” for any grocery order I tried. Not sure what I’m doing wrong and customer service is useless

Further data points:
I placed 2 Aldi orders which worked
P2 tried the same Aldi and Food Lion which didn’t work, but Safeway did.
This doesn’t make any sense…

I did a grocery order over the weekend and it looks like it took my $10 worth of the $5/month doordash credits from chase and not the $10 grocery benefit?

And when I go to check out from a grocery store again, no additional $10 credit?

Edit: Ohh I have to go apply it? So, then my original order just used my $10 credits not the grocery benefit. That’s real dumb.

DD automatically applies any DD credit that you have to your order. You have to manually select the $10 promo from the promo section. It will then use the $10 promo and then use any DD credit for the balance owed. I just successfully used my 2nd $10 credit today. 😉

I have multiple DoorDash accounts that have activated DashPass membership from the same CSR card. Earlier this month, I was able to get $10 off applied for two orders on each account for the first two accounts, but now I am not seeing $10 off on my promotion wallet on any other accounts.

Maybe they updated these promos to be applied per card linked to any accounts versus per account.

Nvm. It was some glitch yesterday. It’s working fine today.

Has anyone been able to see both the reserve $10 and freedom $10 simultaneously in app? Only my reserve is showing up.

I believe the promo depends on which card your dashpass membership is activated with. Hence, you are not able to use both promos on the same account. If you want to use them all, you might want to create separate accounts for each card you have.

Are you sure that’s not against their TOS?

I’m not. I’m just saying that’s the only way to get around if he wants to use both.

I got the $10 monthly CSP credit just fine, but nothing is showing up for the $10 quarterly CF credit. Has anybody been able to redeem more than a single $10 credit in a month if two qualifying cards are in your wallet?

It appears they have removed all the convenient stores from the groceries list. I used to show Sheetz, CVS, Walgreen, Wawa, and even a few restaurants. All are gone now.

I just bought groceries on DashMart and one of the items was out of stock so they refunded me. Now that the transaction is under $10, will it still trigger the credit? Does the $10 credit have to be used in a single transaction or it can be used across multiple transactions?

@ed It’s not a credit, it’s a promo code that you add when checking out. Should show up under the promo code field from what I am seeing in the comments.

Thanks!
Oops, just wasted money. 😅
But it’s okay because they ran out of something, refunded me, and gave me a substitute for free.

I’ve had a hard time trying to get pick up orders through at Wawa, 7-11 and Wegmans. I’ll put the items through and after a short period of processing it will say that, “The promotion cannot be applied to this order. Please remove or use another promotion code”

I’ve tried this for your typical drinks and chips as well as for chicken wings and milk. Nothing seems to go through. My CSP is on my account, Dash Pass until 12/31/27. I’ve tried to pay the balance using both my CSP as well as DoorDash credits. Any tips to share?

I am also having this issue when I try to do a pickup at 7-eleven. Orders over $10 and under $10 both trigger the error. I just can’t make the order actually process.

Same issue trying to do a delivery from Aldi. Not sure why mine won’t stack, the Sapphire Reserve is my only payment method on the account. If you figure out it, please post a solution here!

Update: I called doordash support and they did not have a solution but offered to refund up to $10 of my purchase. The refund went through immediately after making the purchase but you do have to specify you want the refund to your card.

Having same issue, unable to place an order. Chatted with support, which took 25 mins and a bunch of crazy excuses in the process, not to mention an agent with attitude, and in the end she told me to place an order and come back for a refund.

Such a drastic contrast with Instacart we used to have. I feel like it’s time to move on from Sapphire. I will also SM Chase with a complaint.

Wasn’t able to use it in Aug, and still getting the same “The promotion cannot be applied to this order. Please remove or use another promotion code.” error in Sept, csp card. I give up, too much hassle for $10…

Chuck major game-breaking (yet awesome!) bug discovered. So my Chase Saphire Preferred has been closed for months, but it is still linked as the primary payment method in DoorDash and for DashPass. Despite the credit card account being closed, my complimentary DashPass membership was automatically extended to 12/31/2027 AND I still get the monthly $10 credit to spend on any non-restaurant order. Prior to checking out it displays an error, but you can click “Place Order” anyway and it’ll go through!

I personally use mine at 7/11 🙂
