Card Details

  • $550 annual fee
  • Card earns at the following standard rates per $1 spent:
    • 3x points on travel & restaurants
    • 1x points on all other purchases
  • No foreign transaction fees
  • $300 annual travel credit
  • Primary car rental insurance
  • Visa infinite benefits

Full review on Chase Sapphire Reserve can be found here.

Our Verdict

The standard bonus has been 50,000 for a while, and this is a nice little bump. Not as good as the 100,000 launch offer on the card, but highly doubtful that’s coming back, so it could make sense to signup with this offer. We’ll have to wait and see if the 80k + $50 becomes available via referral as well.

There’s also an increased Sapphire Preferred offer coming on March 21st as well. See these 26 Things Everybody Should Know About Chase Credit Cards before applying for a Chase card.

Perhaps link this thread over to https://www.doctorofcredit.com/chase-sapphire-reserve-70000-points-bonus-online-offer/?

Also, any reason the 70k offer doesn’t make the ‘best of’ list but this one did at 60k?

Opened the card yesterday and it shows 50k instead of 60k in the bonus tracker…

email chase via sm, they should be able to fix it, are you sure when you signed up it was 60k?

Don’t understand why Chase destroyed this card. Only reason it would make a sense is if you racked up a bazillion UR points and want to use the conversion bonus. Sign up these days barely pays for the annual fee. They should at least give you 100k SUBs if they’re going to charge over $500 for the card.

Seems like they timed the drop in SUBs to coincide with when people who dropped due to the increased AF might try to sign up again. We might see higher SUBs in the future but I’m guessing they’ll take a break to keep churners away.

the card was already a fantastic offer since it provides $300 in travel credit that can be used in supermarket until end of year and priority pass (which is better than the amex version)

100k was Chase’s initial acquisition cost of new customers, and Chase doesn’t need to woo your ass now that it has such a large user base willing to pay whatever for the annual fee.

I get 100K UR/month from Biz spend. This card would be worth it with 5x the annual fee with the cash-out bonus.

you get the annual $300 travel bonus and priority pass, this itself already pays for the card

Hmm yeah I’ve been thinking about downgrading my Reserve to Preferred instead due to its lower fees and approximately the same rewards. Seems like I can just get the 3X restaurant points from Chase Freedom Flex, and even more points/perks on travel with Amex Plat.

Wondering if Preferred + Amex Plat is superior to Chase Sapphire Reserve at this point?

The reserve in 2021 is trash. It was an amazing card the first/second year (2017/2018) but now, the benefits are not even worth it. +it is supposed to be a premium card and for the few legitimate disputes I have done, it was a nightmare to get back my money (ugly stories also confirmed by Redditors).

anyone here succeeded with getting auto approval with both apps for the mdd? If so, did you apply one right after the other the following day?

Apps – applications. MDD – modified double dip. I’d recommend searching r/churning for the term to get some more information. Use the search linked in the “Required Reading” before you ask any questions there.

Sorry for the late reply – I was auto-approved for CSR on 6/8/2020 and CSP on 6/9/2020. So yes, auto-approved for one, waited a day, auto approved for the second.

Meh only 60k? Seems like Chase has been placing less priority on this card and is focusing more on CSP…

if I get declined for the CSR, how soon before I can apply for the CSP? Since the CSR is 10k credit limit I am not sure if Chase will offer me that. I do have good credit score around 790

technically the next day, If you have other chase cards you can move some credit line if that’s the reason of denial

Are you sure? I thought it was one application per 30 days. I’m probably (and hopefully) wrong.
