A few readers have alerted me to the fact that they’ve recently received coupons for $400 for opening up a checking and savings account. One reader said that this offer was also available at their local Chase branch (this seems to be YMMV as I wasn’t able to find a similar offer). Here are the relevant details:
- Receive $200 when you open a Chase total checking account (no direct deposit required)
- Receive $200 when you open a Chase savings account and fund it with $15,000 in new money. This must be kept in your account for a minimum of 90 days.
Some people also have reported receiving an offer with a different breakdown (e.g $300 bonus for checking and $100 for savings). Chase had previously made a similar $400 offer public, but this is no longer available. Earlier in the year I also completed a $400 offer with a code I purchased from eBay.
As always, you can see which Chase coupons are available by clicking here. You might also find the following articles helpful:

I’d recommend completing this $400 offer if you receive it, not having to worry about direct deposit is great because Chase has been cracking down on what does and doesn’t count recently.
Have gotten numerous offers from Chase for the $200/$200 deal. Two days ago I received the $300/$100 offer. Opened the checking w/ the $300 offer today. Note: If you are a Veteran or active military, you are entitled to the enhanced Premier Plus checking which is a great deal that I took advantage of. It is my intent to parlay the $300 to offset the $395 annual fee for the the Ritz-Carlton 140,000K point offer.
Does Chase give out 1099s for these types of offers?
Yes, all bank account bonuses are subject to tax.
You should probably mention that in the article then. Someone browsing to your site for the first time might not realize it.
We usually include a disclaimer on all bank account bonus pages, because there is no direct link to this offer we didn’t do that this time. I’ve added one now.
My DS is a part time worker who is paid by check because he is considered a contractor. He does not qualify for direct deposit. A USAA customer, there was a problem with the USAA ATM when he wanted to deposit a check months back so in order to receive funds, I then had him endorse the check to me and headed for Chase. That was a problem that day although I think it would not have at a different branch where I frequent. I want so much to have him open a Chase bank account in his name to have a backup with USAA as the ATM is close but can be down. (He has a Chase Freedom card in his name independent of me). How can I find an account promotion that works for him?
Either find one without a direct deposit requirement or one that can have the bonus triggered by an ACH transfer. Most bonuses will be triggered by an ACH transfer.
