Our Verdict
They offered a similar thing back at the start of 2019 and at the end of last year and just recently some were getting this as a targeted offer. You only need 100,000 points to get the companion pass this year. You might be better off signing up for the personal 80,000 or business 100,000 signup bonuses which are still showing at the time of the writing; that would give you a lot more points and also a companion pass through the end of 2022. The new offer might make sense for some as well. Before apply, check these 26 Things Everybody Should Know About Chase Credit Cards.

Good riddance. I’m waiting for a straight up points offer.
What can you cash out these points for, perhaps going via gift card?
If you don’t fly Southwest, these cards weren’t for you.
I mostly agree for plane/hotel cards in general, but I thought, at least at some times, Southwest had redemptions that made the SUB worthwhile.
Does anyone know if you get the companion pass immediately, or after you spend $5k
You get it a couple of days after the statement closes on the statement where you spent the 5,000th dollar.
I’m at 4/24 and already received a SUB for the SW Plus card under 24 months. Would the SUB from the Plus card disqualify me?
At the very beginning of the T&C it states:
The product is not available to either (i) current Cardmembers of any Southwest® Rapid Rewards® Credit Card, or (ii) previous Cardmembers of any Southwest Rapid Rewards Credit Card who received a new Cardmember bonus within the last 24 months. This does not apply to Cardmembers of the Southwest Rapid Rewards Business Card and Employee Credit Card products.
🙁
It would honestly be extremely interesting to see what kind of numbers revenue management put in when deciding how much such a CP will cost the company
This year? Probably very little. Even if travel picks up in a big way in 2022, January and February are slow travel months. So I think this is a pretty clever little offer by SW.
Agreed. I’d say it would give a couple an incentive to buy 1 ticket when they otherwise wouldn’t have bothered flying in the first place.
