Our Verdict
While many will prefer the recently expired offer for 85,000 points, this $400+40k offer will be interesting to those who like cash. And you can help a friend get 25,000 points when signing up through their referral link (do not share your referrals in the comments below).
Timing-wise, this is an ideal time to earn points towards a companion pass. That said, this offer only gives 40,000 points and is not going to get you close to earning the Pass. It could still make sense when paired with a Southwest Business Performance card which has an 80,000 points bonus signup offer.

The public offer is now the same as this offer. It ends 12/16/2024. Chuck
I’ll add a note
Perhaps I should know the answer but I don’t…. I have the Premier card; is it possible that Chase would give me the Plus as well?
Your allowed only one personal card and one business card.
Actually it is one personal card, and one of each kind of business card.
And its one of each Business card.. per Business.. so if you have more than one Business…
Not worth it if going for companion pass. Can’t see how this would appeal to anyone. I really hope this doesn’t stay around for long.
Sure it is. It is better than the 50,000 point offer. 80,000 for the Business Preferred plus 40,000 for the person, along with the 10,000 automatic progress and the amount needed for the spend for SUBs gets a person to 135,000. The $400 statement credit is worth a lot more than the alternative 50,000 offer (though the return of a 85,000 offer would obviously be better).
