Our Verdict
We just had a similar 75,000 offer on these cards which ended in July; that offer had a slightly higher spend requirement of $5,000. This offer is better with just $3,000 required. I’m hopeful we’ll see this offer come to referral links in the coming weeks which would give the referrer a 20,000 points bonus. In any case, we have until December 5th so it could be worth waiting a bit in order to help out a friend when applying. This offer is now available via referral as well.
The timing for applying now is excellent for the purpose of acquiring the Southwest Companion Pass. You can time yourself not to meet the bonus spend until after January 1st, 2023, and then complete the spend requirement. That’ll ensure you get the Companion Pass for nearly two full years. You can one of the personal cards with 75,000 and get a business card with 80,000 points bonus which would get you to the Companion Pass threshold.
We’ll add this to our list of Best Credit Card Signup Bonuses. Before applying, check out these 26 Things Everybody Should Know About Chase Credit Cards.
Updates:
- Chase is also matching the 75,000 bonus for those who signed up recently under a lower offer.
- This offer is now available via referral as well.
Deal is expired.
Elevated offers via referral now redirect to the lower, public offers.
I’ll update as Expired
link https://creditcards.chase.com/a1/southwest/AEP75kPlus1122? still shows 75k . Can I still apply for this and avail 75k?
Yes, I want to apply now but along with 75k miles it shows end date 12/5. So I am concern if I apply now then I get 50k. Would we still get 75k? Thanks
DP: applied southwest yesterday at 4pm EST and got approved by the system, then called chase to decrease the credit limit of ~$10000 in total of other chase card to prepare for the MDD. Applied for the second southwest this morning and got approved today, seemed to work for me the MDD trick.
Nice! would the MDD give sign-up bonus from both cards.. i presume you might have applied for two different versions of personal cards?
Yes, I applied for the plus and premier card.
good to hear .. thanks for the reply.
I don’t see a post that allows referral links for WN. Is there one? I have the 75k offer still.
My partner is an Authorized user on my personal SW card. Should I remove him before referring him to apply for this? TIA!
doesn’t matter
anyone knows if apply 2 different personal cards above will get approved and also get the 75k x 2 and the companion passes instead of 1x per + 1x biz card?
guess i can answer my own question. No, can’t. According to terms: “The product is not available to either (i) current Cardmembers of any Southwest Rapid Rewards® Credit Card, ” too bad.
Can you MDD it?
Yes, you can MDD it
Been doing this many years but have never heard the MDD term – what is that?
What is MDD?
MDD = “Modified Double Dip,” which basically means applying for two cards that are mutually exclusive on successive calendar days. From the way that I understand it, the Chase system needs 48 hours to update, so you might be able to get approved for both cards that way.
I applied last week when it was 50K/1K. I PMed them and it sounded like I have the option of the original offer or the 75K/3M. They told me to PM them when I hit 3K spending if I would like the 75K.
Same experience.
Can two people (ex. married couple) each get one personal card but use the same SW rewards number (ex. husband’s) to satisfy the companion pass point requirement? Thanks
No
So if you just get the one personal card, how much spend will be required to get you to a companion pass?
