Card Details

Our Verdict

They offered the same in 2024, 2023, 2022, and similar offers in the past as well. We also just saw offers for 85,000 points on the personal card and 125,000 on the business card. These don’t have the automatic Companion Pass component; you typically need 125,000/135,000 points to get the pass.

The companion pass on this offer is only good through February 2026, whereas if you earned it through traditional means it would be valid through the end of the following year you earned it in (e.g December 2026). This is a nice simple offer for some people and could be useful, but I think the points deals are better for most people.

Note that the Companion Pass earned with this signup deal is valid through February 2026 whereas when you earn it through the traditional method it’s valid through the end of the following year (which potentially can be almost 2 years, when timed right). This offer will still be a nice, simple deal for a lot of people We’ll add this to our list of Best Credit Card Signup Bonuses. How long does it take for the companion post to post to your Southwest account? I got the 30k bonus in my account after the statement close 5 days ago, no sign of the CP yet.

Dave, I am experiencing the same. No email from SW about the pass either.

Also got the 30k bonus at statement close, but no sign of the CP yet. Offer terms say to allow 8 weeks for it to appear in your Southwest account. Kind of a bummer if you were wanting to plan a spring trip. I remember the CP posting almost immediately the last time I earned one.

If you aren’t a voracious deleter of your past email, you can do a search for the subject line Congrats, You earned Companion Pass, In the date range of when last you earned it to figure it out. I just found mine from March 2023 and so if I get denied on the application I did yesterday, I’ll try again in March before the promotion ends.

Could have helped me reach companion pass if sharing referral links was still allowed. I’ve already got the personal southwest cards. All I need are two people to use my referral and I will get the companion pass. 🙁

Looking back at my records, I applied and approved on 3/10/23. Completed the 4k spend by 3/28/23. I’m unsure when they issued the CP back then. Would I be eligible again for the companion pass promo?

You can earn the bonus from CC 24 months from when you last earned the bonus. Southwest points history only goes back to the beginning of last year, and Chase doesnt show you statements from closed credit cards. so how can i determine the date i last earned the bonus? even award wallet does not show history.

Learn from this and start a spreadsheet. Or search “Chase approved” in Gmail and add 4 months

I actually have quite the elaborate spreadsheet. I have the sign up date, but sadly I never thought marking the exact date I earned the SUB as important, though now obviously it is.

I’d add 4 months to your sign up date to be conservative. Bonus should have posted no later than 3.X months after sign up date

I currently have a swa card but last received a sub more than 2 yrs ago. Do I just cancel and then apply? Or do I need to wait 30 daYs then apply?

it’s getting so hard to get CP the old way. this offer is seeming more appealing each year…

Yeah I’ve done this offer before because the other way requires having a business or a “business.”
