Chase To Launch Chase Freedom Rise Later This Year

During the JP Morgan Chase Investor Day presentation Chase announced it would be launching the Chase Freedom Rise in some markets later this year. Chase had previously filed a trademark for this card and I speculated it would be targeted towards those with no credit history or poor credit history.

Based on the slides this seems to be accurate and the card will focus on those with no credit history. It’s also possible the card will be available in branch only. Probably something that won’t be very interesting for those chasing sign up bonuses unfortunately.

I don’t understand all the complaining. A new card with a new sign on bonus. This is a good thing.

Looking at the sample image, it looks like the Freedom Student. I wonder if this is a rebrand of that card, rather than the Slate, as an entry-level card for a wider audience than just students?

This one is a Visa Signature card whereas the Student is a Visa card. Visa Signature cards tend to have more benefits and higher starting limits and also higher swipe fees for the merchant so this one seems to be a bit higher end than the Student card.

It’s probably just a basic Freedom card oriented at beginners who don’t know much and just want to open a simple card with help from a branch employee, whereas the Unlimited and Flex are more complicated cards with a lot of categories and aimed more at people who understand credit cards and online banking well.

I think this is aimed at the debit card audience that normally don’t really go for credit cards and might need to be convinced to get one in branch. Whereas the Student card is aimed for people who were always going to get more advanced credit cards in the future but just don’t qualify for them yet.

The Slate on the other hand was just a balance transfer card with no other real purpose.

I don’t think so. The cards with lots of rewards are aimed at zoomers. This is for the cash and debit card crowd to convince them to get their first credit card, such as lower class immigrants, uneducated boomers, etc. People who need branch employees to convince them to get a card and help them understand how they work, as stated in the Chase image. Zoomers will never go into a branch or talk with an employee, they will watch some videos and do it all online themselves.

A lot of zoomers use chime, cash app and a lot of other 🐂💩 Fintech banks like that. Not all zoomers watch credit card YouTubers like sebby or Shifu. Still a lot of zoomers getting student loans for 🐂💩 degrees too. But I agree this card is for financially illiterate and outright poor people as well.

Do they all have to be blue? Do they all have to say freedom? We get it, you think like a cult and utter freedom every 5 seconds and think getting into debt is freedom.

They are blue because that’s Chase’s corporate color, the Sapphire cards are blue too as are the debit cards and their company logo and web site, etc. It has nothing to do with “freedom”. BoA corporate color is red, that doesn’t mean they’re communists.

Freedom Rise?
Sounds more like a Freedom Trap!

Just another card for JP Morgan Chase to victimize unsuspecting customers.

LOL…

Yep, just like my current 8 Chase UR earning cards. Except that from day one Chase has been the “Victim”, (to the tune of over 5 million UR points vs. maybe $2,000 in annual fees).

Guess this will be the replacement to the slate like the Freedom to the Freedom Flex. That way they can have all their personal, non-travel, non-partnered cards be under the “Freedom” name.

While they may market it to people so they can see their credit “rise” the only thing rising will probably be Chase’s wallet with all the late fees and interest charges they throw out (I assume anyways).

The Slate Edge is the replacement for the Slate

Yes, and the Slate was never a beginner card, it was a balance transfer card for people already in debt. Its sole purpose was to lure interest payers away from other banks with the long 0% offer.

Good one, at first glance I thought that Chase was attempting a seance for all the 5/24 left in the dust.

I wonder if it will come in the secured and not secured varieties.
