Chase Ultimate Rewards: 40% Transfer Bonus To Virgin Atlantic (1:1.4)

The Offer

  • Chase Ultimate Rewards program is offering a 40% transfer bonus when you transfer to Virgin Atlantic. Normally you can transfer at a rate of 1:1 and under this promotion that increases to 1:1.4

The Fine Print

  • Valid until November 30, 2024

Our Verdict

This is the sixth transfer bonus we have seen from Chase & Virgin Atlantic (1,2, 3, 4, 5, 6).  You can view more Chase transfer bonuses by clicking here. American Express is offering the same transfer bonus to Virgin Atlantic currently as well.

Dont transfer any, unless you have a specific booking now that works. I also see Virgin pulling Upper Class inventory across many dates. That includes Premium Econ as well. They have high fuel surcharges from the US to UK as well. Higher than BA. I still monitor them becuase then can drop last min space. When they do the points can be fair, its just a matter of the surcharges to pay.

Booked on Virgin, JNB to VCE economy tickets are 15K one way on KLM steel with a fee of ~$160. That same ticket booked on KLM is 27,500 using Miles&More with a ~$115 fee. With the transfer bonus you’re looking at transferring 11K to Virgin for a flight that would be 27,500 with Miles&More. If you buy the ticket you will be paying ~$600.

It’s good if you want to go on a Virgin Cruise

Sadly no, that’s not true. They JUST released their third wave of book-able cruises, and the points required has skyrocketed. Its now a 1cpp value, where your chase points converted to Hyatt are still a much better value. Appears Virgin is only good for economy flights now, since they have next to zero availability on premium seats.

Correct, but in some cases their award ticket rates are low enough to make it a good redemption overall.

This. They announced a switch to Dynamic pricing so I wouldn’t speculatively transfer.

I would never move a single Chase point to them unless I was booking something now. Prefer to move AMEX if the same conditions exist.
