The Offer
- Chase Ultimate Rewards program is offering a 50% transfer bonus when you transfer to Marriott. Normally you can transfer at a rate of 1:1 and under this promotion that increases to 1:1.5
The Fine Print
- Valid until August 19, 2022
Our Verdict
We’ve seen this transfer bonus from Chase twice in the past.  You can view a full list of current and past transfer bonuses by clicking here. Bonus itself isn’t worth considering unless you just need a small top up for an award as Chase UR points are so much more valuable.
Did this end early?
It looks like it ended early. I saw the bonus in the UR portal a few weeks ago and now it’s gone.
If anyone can confirm that the 50% transfer bonus is over or still available, would greatly appreciate that.
I called Chase last night and they said it was still valid. I’d planned to move points to Marriott and the offer wasn’t showing up on the UR portal when I logged in; the CSR confirmed it was still valid, and when I logged back in, it showed up on the main UR page. The offer also still shows up in the Marriott app for me when I scroll to the bottom of the “Account” tab at the bottom in the app. I took screenshots of all this and transferred a bunch of points out. Will report back once they clear (last time it took 2 full business days).
Did you get the bonus?
Yes it worked. Despite the fact that the bonus was not mentioned anywhere, it has posted as a separate transaction, together with the transferred amount itself (all in all 2 days for Chase)
Current room pricing in big cities for Marriott “classic” and “longer stay” brands are between 150 and 300 and that’s using the LTS (LongTerm Stay) or AAA promo codes. With points, you can book and get at least 1 cent per point value, especially with the “book 4 nights with points and the 5th night is free” policy.
With this transfer 1:1.5 transfer, it is the same as getting 1.5 cents per Ultimate Rewards point.
This would not work because you cannot combine AAA, LTS or Corporate rates with points.
Ironically if you have good corporate rates available to you that makes the points worth even less compare to cash rates.
I was lucky to have used my 2 FNCs at Marriott Waikiki in summer 2021 for 35k. The cash price is still about 370 (not changed much) but the point rate is now 55k to 60k. Glad I no longer need to deal with those useless FNCs and have downgraded to a no fee card.
Though, for less popular vacation spots, it is still possible to get at least 1 cent/point without staying for 5 nights. E.g. You can get Ritz Carlton Tyson’s Corner for 31k vs cash rate of 331-386. So it is very YMMV depending on where you want to stay and dates. Therefore it would not be a good idea to stock up on points. Instead one should compare the cash vs point rates before booking/transfer.
I’m not proposing combining points and nights. I’m comparing the promo cost + tax price to using points. I also clarified it was for their classic and extended stay brands that you get this value and NOT premier or luxury brand properties. Is English your second language?
I’m not proposing using paid promo code nights coupled with points nights. I’m stating that the cost of a promo night stay for 5 nights versus points stay of 5 nights using the stay 4 get the 5th night free gets you value of at least one point in many big city classic or extended stay branded Marriott properties. I thought it was pretty clear. I am not saying you can get $0.01 value at luxury properties. Is English your second language?
Bonvoy are worthless. Before Covid, there were times where you could get a decent property for 10-15k points. I do remember due peak covid I found a Sheraton for 4.5k points but thats about it. Now every shit property is still 30k+ points… they sure devalued hard
Brutal redemption values with Marriott. The 35K certificate that comes with my AMEX card is hard to use; most hotels are 40K++ points where we want to go.
Worthless… Marriott has devalued into oblivion. It’s nearly impossible to even use the 35k cert free nights anymore. Properties we used them in the past are now 80k-100k/night. Marriott points now feel like Hilton points expect they aren’t acquired as easily. Bonvoyed!

Does transferring extend your expiration date? TIA
Heck you can do just a good with Pay your self back.
Wake me up when it’s a 100% bonus. At about .8cpp (if you’re lucky at this point now too) value, doubling the points would effectively create a 1.6cpp value of Chase points vs the 1.5cpp value through their portal.
At this point, it’s not worth it.
Could be worth it if you found some 1+ cpp Marriott properties, or if you need some extra airline miles to top up an award flight.
I agree. But only worth it if points are going to be used right away. With the current system they can easily devalue the points overnight…I have stopped stocking up Marriott points for some time and glad I already burned the few million points I once had.
Dynamic award pricing sucks
Anyone else having transfer delays. I am at 2+ days right now. Most DPs say that it should be less than that.
