Update: A new deal (65k + $50 statement credit) is now available. I’ve replaced the links in this post with that better offer to avoid any confusion.
The Offer
For awhile it’s been possible to get the following offer for the Chase by using one of the many work arounds. It looks like Chase now lets you apply for this offer directly. Offer is as follows:
- 50,000 United miles for spending $2,000 within the first three months after account opening
- 10,000 bonus miles when you spend $25,000+ on your card within a calendar year
- 5,000 bonus miles when you add an authorized user and they make a purchase within three months
The Fine Print
- Valid until September 2nd, 2014
- Annual fee of $95 waived for the first year
- Free first checked bag
- Priority boarding
- 2 United Club Passes each year
- Earns at the following rate:
- 2x miles on all tickets purchased from United
- 1x miles on all other purchases
Our Verdict
As we stated earlier, this deal has been live for awhile. We first posted about it on February, 24th 2014. But the deal has been around for longer than even that. The only difference is that it’s now possible to apply for this offer directly without using a work around, the other difference is that some websites will receive an affiliate commission for promoting this offer. We do not receive affiliate commissions from Chase and always post the best deals regardless of whether we get paid or not. If you see a lot of blogs promoting this offer that didn’t alert you to the fact that it’s been available for awhile, you should ask yourself why they are doing it. Chances are they don’t have your best interests at heart. In terms of the offer itself, it’s a pretty good way of getting a stockpile of United miles quickly. You can add an authorized user without supplying an SSN to Chase, so the extra 5,000 miles is easy to get as well and will not affect the person you adds credit report or their chances of receiving this or a similar bonus in the future.

I personally won’t be applying for this offer at the moment, as I am trying to focus on cash back offers/hotel credit cards at the moment as I already have way too many airline miles.

Hat tip to Credit Card Joint
William Charles, any ideas on my original question about applying for a Chase United MileagePlus Explorer Business credit card shortly after closing the Chase United MileagePlus Explorer Personal credit card version? Are the promotions for business and personal cards treated separately?
You can apply for the business credit card and having the personal card previously shouldn’t have any bearing on the outcome. Keep in mind it’s only the personal card with the increased sign up bonus, so you’d be better off waiting for a higher business card bonus in my opinion.
So I wonder if sending them a PM requesting the bump as I just received that card in the last 30 days. It’s worth a shot and only cost me a few minutes of my time.
Yes that should work without issue.
SM sent – waiting
I recently closed my Chase United MileagePlus Explorer (personal card) account. In your opinion is it possible to now apply and receive a new Chase United MileagePlus Explorer Business card?
