Chase United TravelBank cardholders have been sent a letter stating that their card will become the Chase United Gateway on September 21, 2020. The main differences are as follows:
- Earn 2x miles on United purchases (previously 2x TravelBank Cash)
- Earn 2x miles on gas station purchases (previously 1x TravelBank cash)
- Earn 1x miles on all other purchases (previously 1x TravelBank cash)
- Removal of price protection

https://flywithmoxie.com/moxie-게시판/?uid=5022&mod=document on this korean fly with moxie article, it states that XN is available on the Gateway card, no news on the MPX gift card bonus, anyone else got a DP?
how about “Auto Rental Collision Damage Waiver”? Dose Chase United Gateway Visa still have this benifit?
I am a card holder but haven’t received the email. I guess this means soon United miles will be worth less than 1c/m?
Better than the “United Knockout Visa” … still haven’t forgotten.
Any word on if the Explorer card is going away? Waller’s Wallet has mentioned this but I haven’t seen anything to back it up.
I think Waller’s was mistaken with this, but not 100% sure.
When I downgraded my ancient UA Select Visa a few months ago, I asked for the TravelBank card, but the only available NAF card was the UA MileagePlus Card that pays 1/2 mile per dollar spend.
I wonder if I could convert to the new Gateway card, which offers at least some bonus categories. Not likely that I would put a lot of spend on it, but maybe some gas here and there.
Careful… the free UA MileagePlus card has XN extended economy award space, a pretty nice benefit for 0 AMF. We don’t yet know if the Gateway card will have that benefit.
Hasn’t the XN availability become worth a lot less since dynamic pricing went into effect?
Well, I will admit that I received 3 upgrades out of three award segments last month. Not much demand for F during the pandemic
What does that have to do with anything that is being discussed?
According to Waller’s Wallet, both the NAF UA Mileage Plus and Travelbank cards will be converted to the new Gateway card, though I have not seen other official confirmation of this. With the Gateway card, a big question is whether the increased award access, bonus on MPX gift cards, etc., will still be intact. The earning rates on the Gateway card are still not compelling to me, but those other benefits are what will make me keep or cancel.
The MP card gets you increased award space which is more valuable than the increased earning. You really shouldn’t be putting spend on a united credit card either way to be honest.
