Chase ran into some technical difficulties processing Sapphire Reserve applications on March 11, the final day of the 100k Sapphire Reserve signup bonus offer, and part of the day applications could not be processed in-branch. Many bankers recommended applying online, indicating that they’d manually get the 100k bonus added afterward.
Chase is now sending out a memo to bankers with the following guidelines:
1) All customers who applied in-branch or online on March 11 are eligible to receive the 100,000 point bonus.
2) There is nothing the banker or customer needs to do to get the 100k bonus – all customers will automatically get the 100k bonus once they meet the requirements. No need to call the banker.
3) This is a one-time exception and only applies to applications submitted on March 11.
In hindsight, there was no reason to go into the branch at all since all online applications will get the 100k bonus, but of course we didn’t know that at the time.
