Our Verdict

Normally the standard referral bonus is $5, person referring you also gets $5. Chowbus did a $7 deal for DoC readers and now this $15 deal (we always ask for no commission and the best possible deal for our readers and Chowbus was happy to participate). Chowbus is also offering  50% off select signature dishes from August 31st to September 30th. (Every city’s timeline will differ. Please check your city for more detail.)

Chowbus states that it’s different to other food delivery apps because:

  • Authentic: Chowbus partners with restaurants to showcase their most authentic and delicious dishes – the dishes chefs are most proud to share.
  • Bundling feature: Customers can order from different restaurants in a single order with no added fees, letting them sample a wider variety of dishes in one meal.
  • Large delivery radius: Chowbus has one of the largest delivery radii of any food-delivery app, giving customers access to their favorite Asian restaurants and stores, even if they live tens of miles away.
  • Low delivery fees: $0 delivery fee for selected restaurants or for any restaurant with Chowbus Plus Membership. Exclusive deals and perks also available
  • Rewards Program: Customers can redeem loyalty points by ordering from their favorite restaurants and redeem them for rewards. No enrollment is required.
  • Customer care: Chowbus offers real-time order tracking and has 24-hour customer care specialists accessible through the app, to help with any questions or concerns.

Only got $5 off. Ordered a tea for$2.7 and chowbus took away the remaining credit. Very disappointed.

Interestingly, they have a wide range of places, including asian grocery stores, that other delivery services don’t have, which enables you to get hard to get ingredients and dishes. Unfortunately, multiple items were missing from my order that was delivered late and despite claiming that their live chat usually gets to customers in less than 5 minutes, they took over an hour to get back to me and didn’t even discuss my issue (but issued a partial refund that didn’t make up for the missing items).

this one has a strong emphasis on Chinese restaurants(not American-Chinese food) and bubble tea, at least in my area.

But I love my California rolls with spicy cream cheese and fortune cookies!

Also in Austin, TX now for those curious. Will have P2 add the new code, since their best advertised offer was $7 off first order.

FYI to your DC readers, none of the Washington, DC restaurants are actually in DC (they’re all in Rockville and College Park)

There’s a dozen in my area. Yes, a dozen. Half a dozen are the nationwide ones and the other half dozen are local/regional ones including this one.
