Our Verdict

There is currently a 50,000 mile offer that doesn’t include the 24 month language, in addition to that you can get that offer matched to 60,000 miles. I assume it won’t be possible to get this offer matched to 60,000 miles + $100. The other offer is better unless you value American Airline miles at under 0.5¢ each and if that’s the case I’d question why you’re signing up for this card in the first place.

If anybody does get this card and tries matching to the 60,000 point offer, please let us know how you go. Because of these reasons we won’t be adding it to our best credit card offers page. As always, read these things you need to know about Citi credit cards before applying.

William Charles It seems like the statement credit is now up to $250 for both the personal and biz via a dummy booking

DP on this card…. since clearly I did not do my research.

– Applied for my card mid-Jan from AA flight booking website (because I was annoyed I was going to pay baggage fees and in a hurry to book a flight). AA booking website showed me 40K points for 2K Spend.
– Instant approval, around $6K CL. Instant temporary card number shown online and had a set expiration about 10 days from issue. Full CL line available, as I recall. This is my 4th open Citi card, with a total CL of around $25K.
– Baggage fee not assessed for the first check bag instantly. (I wasn’t sure if I applied for an offer elsewhere that would happen)
– Later, I chatted with Citi to lower CA limit. Instantly lowered to $750. Was told that it is as low as the system would allow. Not sure if that is because it’s a cobranded card, or a CSR issue, as normally Citi allows $0 CA limit.
– $2K spend completed (via bank account funding, WI Bank & Trust, $2K coded as a purchase) a couple of days AFTER first statement close. Prior to account funding, and after, I put a little organic spend on the card, grocery, gas, dining, etc, to the tune of $250-ish, just to show how much I loved my new card.
– Tried to get Citi to match to the publically available offer of 50K points for $2500 spend. Got told over chat they submitted request. Got a response via snail mail I need to send a copy of the offer I received, front and back, that showed the offer and my name. I sent a letter back, showing the AA,com PUBLIC offer, and the Citi PUBLIC offer. A few days later, I got a letter response saying they could not match public offers.
– Mid-March, 2nd statement closes and it shows I earned 42K AA points. I believe AA points did not show up on Citi website when the statement closed but showed up a few days later.

Sock drawer, you have another victim. The end.

Does anybody know or has anyone tried to use their AA number for their spouses application to combine the points? Is this against their terms of service or no big deal?

By the way,
I too have received the 60,000 AAdvantage Miles offer, from Citi, after spending $3000 in 90 days ($95 Annual Fee – waived first year)
